    I was wondering that myself. Seems like a very odd time to retire. Did something happen behind the scenes in the aftermath of Saturdays game maybe?

    It's true he didn't have the best game but he's not the only one who should be blamed. * outside him passed once the whole match, ref had a shocker and the Laidlaw try was a try. However, Parks was an average player who was the best option for Scotland at the time. Unfortunately that time lasted 67 games. Now we have some younger guys like Jackson, Weir (who was actually offered a professional contract with Celtic), Laidlaw and Leonard coming through so now the only problem is who to play at 12.

    I don't expect fireworks from the team this weekend and I doubt we'll see a game much like the one in 2010. But if Scotland put in a good performance and play some nice rugby I'll be happy. I can see us finally scoring a try, but it'll be in the corner from a ruck or maul.

    this is a good performance from Scotland. it is evidently what happens when Dan Parks is nowhere near a blue jersey.

    incidently, Dan Parks has the strongest Scottish accent ive heard.

    Oh and George 'stronger than Brock Lesnar' North is injured. my very existence is now clouded in uncertainty. luckily for us Scotland havent scored since 1973 so we still have a chance.

    Dan Parks is one of the best players Scotland have had in a long time, he used to be brilliant, don't know what happened to him, 67 caps 260 points, no one can say that isn't good.

    Whats wrong with him playing for Scotland instead of Australia?, if there is something wrong with that what about Faletau playing for Wales? even thought he is from Tonga?
