Sung every week by the Scum not just against us.

Oh and 'offensive chanting'. If I want to jump up and chant at Ally McCoist he's a fat, inbred, knuckledragging, throwback of a human being I'm pretty sure that would offend somebody.

    * them. Offensive chanting my * *.

Just a quick queestion...do you actually know what you are arguing about? You don't really seem to have a good grasp of what you are talking about IMO.

You can sing that * save the queen * all you like.....as can hun * across the land.

It is most certainly not againt the law, but is offensive to a large percentage of Scots/Irish/non-English this side of the border - one of the reason why the huns are hated by a large amount of Scottish nationalists up here.

It can be sung without fear of retribution, and is not deemed as sectarian nor offensive is it?

They can also sing rule brittania all they like ( a song about ENGLAND'S Rule by force) - again without it being deemed as sectarian nor offensive.

As soon as Glasgow Celtic fans - a large number of whom have connections with Ireland (who had/still struggles with English rule) sing songs about opposing the rule and English tyranny - called sectarian singing.....never has it been classed as sectarian, and is now being labelled offensive:rolleyes:

    An absolute farce.

I dont want to sing * save the queen but people would find it offensive if i did
As I have said i dont have a problem with anyones views whatever they belive but what I do think is that pro ira songs have no place at a football match regardless what anyother club in the world sing in my opinion it has no place it is a political view and not a football one

i have just read this thread from the start and feel i should add my two bobs worth.

Rebel songs (read offensive chanting / sectarian chanting) have been sung at parkhead since well before i was born. the first celtic game i was ever at i was about 9 years old and BOTOB was belting out, as was the usual's like fields of athenrye, broad black brimmer etc. these songs are synonimous with our great club and were sung by EVERYONE, not the vast majority, EVERYONE.

the problem we now have is that someone has woken up to the fact that rangers songbook reads like a who's who of vile, biggoted bile. in this country the establishment cannot only seek to confront those in the wrong - it has to be a balanced attack so as to appease the rangers support (read mass unwashed) thats where our support comes in. when they analyse our songbook they notice that the vile, biggoted bile is absent from our repertoire. they cant just drag rangers over the hot coals and thats where the term "offensive chanting" comes in.

i can agree with the songs being classed as "inappropriate" for a football match staged in britain (lets be honest none of the songs glorify britain) however i cannot agree that any of these songs are sectarian, offensive, or "have no place at parkhead". these songs have been sung at parkhead longer than i have been alive, were probably sung in full voice in lisbon on the greatest day in our history, and will continue to be sung regardless of what the police or alex salmond say.

to those fans who believe they have no place at parkhead i would suggest you have bought right into the meeja's line - "one as bad as another" - wake up and realise we have no sectarian problem at parkhead. we are a club with a vast and intriguing history and i for one will never be ashamed to broadcast it :celt_2:

nae singing about malmo tonight lhads..... don't wana offend anyone

the songs are legal, people like singing them. fail to see the problem here. not as if every other song is football related. and if you want to sing other types of songs theres no one stopping any of you so sing to your hearts content. you pay your money, every one else pays theres.

enjoy the atmosphere and the game, not moaning about what other folk are singing

i respect your opinion, although i don't agree. but can you not realise that the fact that the celtic away support is so vocal of these songs, that the vast majority of fans who regularly attend games support the sngs?

Yes fact I do love the vocal support of the club but will never think that some songs just dont have there place at a football match and that will never change but everyone is entitled to there opinion

You would have thought we'd have moved on a bit in the aforementioned "100 odd years" we've been around as a football club.

The problems you feel you're bringing to light no longer exist. There is no battle to be fought anymore.

Fans with this mentality are no better than the knuckle draggers from the blue side of the city. Stuck in the past with the mindset that they are somehow involved in a noble cause which boils down to being no more than a pain in the * for anyone who has the audacity to think forwards and not backwards.

More people than you probably care to comprehend are fed up with this dressed up catholic vs. protestant pish, all you're doing is adding petrol to a flame which should have died a long time ago. Both sets of fans are at it and the media has a * field day perpetuating it.

Along with others like you, you're stuck in the past, get with the * times.
