Just a classic case of people being complete eejits because a player wanted to move on in his career and play in a better league.

It’s pathetic. Edouard was brilliant for us.

We're missing a moody guy who scores and assists loads now khuns gone so I'd take him to fill the gap :56:

He's the best since Larsson for me because he literally had everything. He was far better all round than Dembele, he had more to his game than Kyogo.

Beyond bizarre that he gets so much hate. The "he downed tools in the final season"... he scored 22 goals in that season. Dembele literally spat the dummy out when we turned down the first bid from Lyon.

Think it's the covid season as well. Despite the fact he was still our best player that year.

Also the fact he's French and didn't run about like Maeda or Kyogo. Obviously love that level of work rate but at the time that's not how we played up top with our no9, no point rewriting history.

See if your reason for not wanting him back is due to his recent form at Palace and Leicester, I'd understand, but I would also say on a free it's more than worth the risk for a player who was not only excellent for us, but stayed with us longer than both Kyogo and Dembele.

If your reason is he was lazy and wanted out, I think it's worth remembering he was comfortably our best player during Covid and him wanting to move on the next season doesn't make him a villian. I've always thought he got a bit of a bad wrap purely because of that season.

It would mean Maeda back on the left, and if we did bring in another LW it would certainly be a project or a loan, but IMO Rodgers is the perfect manager to get him back to his best.

Everyone have different opinions ofc, otherwise the world would be strange but i thinkk Dembele was far better and that it was not even close. Dembele have had a better career as well after leaving us.

I know that the opinion on this is very split :50:

I loved Dembele but his 1st season with us does a lot of heavy lifting.

He scored 9 league goals in 17/18 and my residing memory is him being injured a lot of that season.

Different players though. Dembele was more about sheer power, he wasn't that great on the ball. Edouard had more elegance to him.

If I could take one back it would be Dembele. Two different players tho. Would have been the perfect foil for each other in a 2 up top formation.

If Edouard is even 85% of what he was, bring him home.
Unless he's declined significantly, likely better than Idah

Maybe only cus of age i would agree but would take Dembele back anyday of the week. Dembele has a good goalscoring record to this day while Edouard have been nothing short of pathetic since the season before leaving us.

Also Dembele have consistently showed us love since leaving while Edouard have not.

Have Dembele back in a heartbeat. Teams were genuinely terrified of him. Think he got on great with Brendan as well :fear:

Dembele was more of a big game player than Edouard was in my opinion.

He was injured a fair bit that season, would have been great to see the two together the following season more than just the qualifiers.

Dembele at Lyon was odd, was either on fire or absolutely dire. Stats in Saudi seem passable but nothing amazing.

Dembele’s career has spiralled downwards to the point he’s playing for a who-gives-a-* club in the desert.

Dembele had one great season and one average season for Celtic. Edouard had a good intro season, two great seasons, then a good individual season in his final year. To say Dembele was miles ahead is silly.

Last point is a bit of a weird take. Edouard was recently back doing an awards thing was he not? Regardless, maybe just different personalities. Think this is something fans don't realise. Players are human.

Dembele left 2 seasons earlier than Edouard as well. So I don't think you can give him the love for the club, badge if deciding between the two either.

Regardless, would do anything to have two players up top of their quality. Going from either to Idah is some come down.

Would take him back in a second if he’s still the same player he was first time around. Best since Larsson IMO with the exception of Bellamy but he was a loan player.

However it’s difficult to judge whether he is the same player or not due to the lack of game time.

Could probably get him for a cut-fee but his wages will be high.

So taking both those points into consideration, it could be seen as a fairly big gamble. Plus the board will know there’s likely to be no sell-on value but we can’t look for that with every player.

It does make me wonder what’s going on in our scouting department that we are looking at a former player to replace Kyogo who left 6/7 months ago and was known to want away in the summer window.

Aye don't see it but you never know. He is practically unreadable as a person.

He was back here at some point last year so obviously still has a connection.
