I would like to see I'd spend some real money on a proven striker. There is simply no way we should be considering guys like Doyle who can't even get a game in league 1 in England

But in general it is tricky to justify spending. We don't need to spend a penny more to dominate Scotland and we shouldn't need to spend a penny more to beat a Kazakh team. And if we spent every penny we had we still aren't going to win the champions league. So really we are talking about an annual spend to try and finish 2nd or 3rd in the champions league rather than 4th. And seeing as there is so much luck involved and the difference between 2nd and 3rd is often so slim, I think it is a tough ask to spend say another 10m in the hope that it makes a difference in a couple of games in the season.

My only concern going into the new season is Ambrose as I think he will cost us some easily avoidable goals.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy.

No need to be 'spashing' the cash just for the sake of it...

These threads would carry more gravitas if the transfer window was actually shut, or we were out of Europe.

We have some money to spend, we just need the lure of CL football to attract the type of player we need.

If in 3 weeks we haven't got the required players then I will be the first to make a thread like this but for now I'm happy to see what Lenny has up his sleeve.

Hopefully Monday for new signing according to the manager yesterday.

We need a striker. Everyone, including Lennon, knows this. Other than that, you have to accept that this is how we conduct business. Transfer window is about making a profit. It has to be.

I actually wouldnt have it any other way. Take a look across Glasgow at the shambles of an ex club that are scrapping about for rejects and getting pumped by Forfar.

The reason we will never be in this position is because of the efficiency with which the club is run.

I trust the board where finances are concerned.

If you are talking about the money from the transfers you have to remember that this isn't one big lump sum we are handed. It is paid in installments of 2 to 3 years. No big fee is ever paid in one go. In effect we will have between 1/3 and 1/2 of the 20m. And we've already spent some of that on players. I'd rather we spent what we actually have, rather than getting more loans/overdrafts and * money away to the banks on interest payments, just because we know the money will be coming in later. It reduces our overall spending power.

However if you are talking about CL money we aren't in the group stages yet and still have 2 games to play before we are. You can't take anything for granted before a ball is even kicked.

I think you are being quite racist in only being willing to punch domestic animals. :47: I believe foreign animals deserve the respect of equal opportunity to get punched. :grntongue

Any defender that gets made to look crap by one of our rejects is not good enough to play for us.....he may change other have but i dont see it at the minute.

For maximum effect you should threaten to punch a famous person or a politican.

    Will this thread was unnecessary.

Why is it every so often someone just comes out with a bizarre random rant about how we're not spending enough or haven't made enough new signings. To me it's all nonsense. You don't win games for splashing money around the place just for the sake of it..... I remember one team that did so needlessly.

But Borreigeter, Balde and Van * are what we've signed so far, it's hardly nothing now is it.

More money will be spent but only after we proper qualify for the group stages imo.
It would be bad business for us to spend crazy amounts now, even though i'm sure we will qualify.

I think it's been reported we have spent 6.4-6.6 million this summer but I agree we need to spend more.

    We need the following IMO

Goal scoring forward to replace Hooper
    replacement for big Vic
    Center half
    Left back

Can't see us signing that many though. Will wait and see
