Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Not even the sniff of a genuine rumour for the type of player we need to move forward. All the guys so far linked have been * plucking stuff out thin air

 

There was a post before that saying everything agreed at start of the week. That doesn’t read to me that Celtic agreed to prepare paperwork, it reads there is an agreement between the club and Tete.

 

Thought we'd be in the mix for Tete..

Shows we never were if he's gone to the Serie A champions. Some move for him..

Hopefully some movement over the weekend and maybe a couple officially signed before we kick off the season..

I've been concerned for weeks. That concern only grows stronger when days continue to tick over without seeing real movement of 'proven' quality.

Folk can dress it up all they want; while I'm happy with some of our signings, no one can sit there and genuinely say that it hasn't been underwhelming as * so far.

Absolutely massive month ahead. I live in hope (solely because I don't think Rodgers would come back unless he was given proper money for signings), but my patience is wearing thin.

 

I can easily do that. It hasn't been underwhelming at all.

 

We have signed 5 players so far ffs.

 

If the window closed tomorrow would you be happy going into the CL with our current squad? Or do you just think that our 'proper' business will be done towards the end of the window? Do you think said quality additions are even necessary?

Genuinely interested to hear your answers.

 

Tbh this is a redundant question because it doesn't close tomorrow and we will sign more players. However I still think the CL will be incredibly difficult for us regardless of who we manage to sign.

I think all of our business is proper business tbh, even if it's someone like Holm who appears at face value to be more of a development type signing. Previous windows show that some of the best players we've signed have been brought in towards the end of the window (Jota, CCV, Giakoumakis, Juranovic).

Yeah I think quality additions are necessary. If I were the manager I'd want a new goalie, and another left back, and another winger as my top priorities.

 

I'll hold fire for a couple of weeks..

If we've still no got a couple of first team players in by then I'll be pretty disappointed..

 

But the window isn't closing tomorrow.

The simple reality of this situation which has been talked about to death is Brendan would not have come back without the garentee from Desmond that we would support him this window.

I also believe reading between the lines the reason he publicly said he supports the strategy of signing young raw talents thats been ongoing for a bit, is hes sold on a hybrid approach in the transfer market, in which he will adopt to having 'club' signings and his own signings. His faith in that process will be dependent on the club maintaining their end of the bargain in signing players he sees as first team ready instantly.

Players like that believe it or not can either be harder to attract to Scotland or probably just as likely part of a chain (almost like buying a house) dependent on another player moving in a different direction. So we might have to sit tight a wee bit longer to get what we want.

 

I'm in the same boat.

I hope we have at least one more in before the Ross County game, and if we have no-one in by mid August I'll definitely start getting worried.

It's easy to forget we're still in July, our January window being as efficient as it was probably hasn't helped people's patience.

 

Think people seem to be underplaying Nawrocki here, maybe because he was signed the same time as the Korean lads. He's one of best players at Legia and is our third most expensive defender ever, he's undeniably been brought in as a first team player.

If we hadn't lost Jota & Ange this place would be buzzing with the business so far. Still plenty of time for a few more quality players

 

I've high hopes for him to be fair. But he's a decent job to do to force his way into the team.

But I don't believe he's in the top 5 for our defensive signing fees never mind top 3

 

Only CCV and Julien I can think of offhand that we've paid more for.

That Jozo fee is wrong.. by all accounts, it was roughly 3m.

Edit: I checked there and he did say everything was agreed but also said tete could be considering other options to be fair to him, but yeah as I was saying I wouldn’t read too much into what people are saying online bar solid links through media etc
