Get where your coming from, but there's definitely a few positions that need filled in before July.

CCV is only just training again, so if he or Starfelt take a knock, we're left with Kobayashi and Welsh as backups/rotational options, a CB is a must.

If Maeda gets injured, we currently only have Jun that can fill in there, as Tilio is injured too. Need a LW pronto.

Positions like LB, GK, RW and CM can probably wait until later in the window when we've got rid of more deadwood (Bernabei, Siegrist and Turnbull, and Abada isn't deadwood but we won't sign 2 wingers whilst he's still at the club) but I'd expect at least 2 big signings before the end of July, and that isn't much to ask imo, still 2 weeks left.

Four signings in so far. Three really if you don't count Iwata as he was already here. I'm sure there's more to come. I'm not too worried as we still have a strong squad despite losing Mooy and Jota (so far).

Holm is more of an unknown quantity but Tilio and Yang look like good additions based on the tiny amount I've seen of them.

From here on in and with less than 3 weeks till the season starts I'm expecting the signings that will enhance the team .
We need a centre half badly and hope to see a goalkeeper and maybe a right back better than Ralston a left winger to replace Jota and another striker.

Yep, this is an excellent point.

And something to add to this worth considering, is that we are intrinsically tied to the English transfer window culture.

I’ve seen many complaints from people in continental Europe, that the EPL is driving up prices of players because there is a culture of waiting until the very last moment to make deals at the end of the transfer window - the whole deadline day drama nonsense.

There is this misconception that you can strike a better deal, if you’re prepared to wait until the very last day of the window. But there is no evidence to actually prove this theory.

Unfortunately, agents are well aware of this, and so they are in no rush to get deals done quickly.

We seem to be going into the Asian market way too often for my liking.

Happy to be proved wrong of course .

Think the squad is still strong but the first team will definitely be weaker for me.

Another central midfielder who can dictate or even a goalscoring mid like a Petrov who gets into great attacking positions.

Your possibly still thinking a LB but wee GT has been excellent just not sure how he'll cope in CL although maybe we need to dampen our expectations.

Maybe a CB but can we better our two CBs, * they've not lost a competitive league match when playing together, that is scary stuff and let's all be honest even when we had VVD we were losing in SPL without the huns even being in it.

Season starts in around 3 weeks, we’ve lost Jota, first choice right back is injured CCV is still not 100% wouldn’t rush him

And we still haven’t signed real quality for me regarding players who will walk into the side.

We should always be adding from a position of strength and this is yet to happen in this window, we have signed young players who are not going to walk into the side.

Plenty have said regarding the positions we need to look at and yet as the weeks go by we are told, don’t worry plenty of time etc but we really need to be getting players in and settled now.

let’s hope we see some movement in the coming week.

Before anyone jumps in and says we have a big squad aye we do but we have a large amount of * hanging on.

Hope we either move them on our cut our losses and pay them off.

I completely agree that certain positions are more urgent than others, but that takes us back to our squad being bloated and needing to create space to bring in better quality. For example, if Yuki and Welsh aren’t deemed good enough to be back ups, we need to get rid of at least one of them. We can’t just keep bringing players in without getting rid of others. There’s also the argument that Rodgers needs a bit of his own time to analyse the squad and make those decisions.

I have confidence the signing we need will arrive. Just need some patience, which is easier said than done.

I’ve seen a few commenting that we’ll lose too many players to the Asian Cup. There’s an argument though that we’re better having five or six go than just lose (for example) Hatate and Kyogo for a few weeks. That’s because if we have 3+ away on international duty, we can request a postponement of our games.

It could well result in a bit of a fixture backlog, but it means we’ll have a better chance of having our best players available.

If they all do well and are in our first team squad what happens when the Asian Cup comes round ? Potentially we could lose around 6 players

Then by the rules we are allowed to postpone some matches.

Surely they are already proving you "wrong" (Quotation because I don't think you're wrong in the concern to be fair).

Kyogo, Maeda, Hatate - all proven to be massive success.
Oh and Iwata look promising and likely to push on more.
Ideguchi - the only "failed" one? Injuries the issue more than anything here.

Seen that somewhere aswell. Not ideal but if it's in the rules why not

I expected a bit more noise inbound player wise considering the board made a big statement in going out and getting Rodgers back.

Having said that, it's still only the middle of July, we don't have any Champions League qualifiers to navigate, our first European game will be in September. I expect a bit of movement in the end of July early August.

I would like to see a clear out as well, guys like Ajeti, McCarthy and maybe squad players if Rodgers doesn't fancy them, Welsh, Turnbull, Siegrist potentially.

Then bring in 3 or 4 tasty signings.

The good thing about Brendan Rodgers is, we know how much he can develop players. He might be able to bring guys like Hatate, Maeda, Abada to another level.

Gonna trust our recruitment here til they’re proven wrong.
Jota was a prospect before joining, failed in Spain on loan and came here on a loan to buy. We’ve signed Yang already who again is a prospect, so trust in the recruiting he’ll do a jota. tilio? I think he’ll be abadas replacement when he inevitably goes.

Mooy was a free but with proven quality and no sell on opportunity. Holm coming in for £3 mil but one of the Norwegian leagues hottest CM prospects in exactly the same 8 position Mooy performed best, with a huge sell on opportunity.

The other South Korean boy I think is a player for a position we currently don’t have any like.

the important thing now is getting 10+ fringe players sold and try keep hold of the first 11. Could still see hatate going too but I’m reluctant to do anything but trust the scouting after the turn over of players we’ve seen in the last 2 years.

    failures?
Ideguchi - unlucky with injuries but ultimately free other than wages
Abilgaard - made sense before the move position and build wise, never got a look in but also only cost wages
Bernabei - total failure. Can’t see him working under Brendan
    Siegrist - Free
McCarthy - Free but I’d imagine wages are a lot. However he along with Shaw, and osaze seem to be remnants from the old network we used so I’m reluctant to pin the blame on the new staff.

So from 30 signings in total (not including the new unknowns) 4 didn’t work out, with Bernabei being the only real financial loss. 7 if counting McCarthy, Shaw and osaze.

26 players out of 30 making a varying scale of impact is some record. Trust in them :shamrock:

I’m hoping since a couple sources were reporting on our interest in livakovic that it means we are looking for a new gk and willing to spend a bitta dosh on a good one

Couple of decent European signings and my concern will disappear.

We've been saying that for 3 weeks now mate.

I honestly don't think we're down the line with anyone.
We've signed up the 3 players on the previous regime's list and it's looking more and more like BR's work on recruitment hasn't actually begun.

So because you've not been given an up to the minute update on what our recruitment staff are doing, that means they're just sitting with their feet up not doing anything? Don't be daft.
