So, you think we have the funds to go into the market and sign more than half a team of CL quality players?

    Fantasy football stuff…

Signing talented, but somewhat unproven players, is the only way a club in our position can hope to be competitive!

And that’s where someone like rodgers, who is supposed to be top notch on the coaching side, really has to earn his corn by improving players with potential.

This guy Holm in particular, looks like an exciting talent. Looks like he can do a bit of everything, which is actually what we need in the centre of the pitch.

And hopefully Tete as Jota's replacement.

I think with the fee's we've brought in, I'd be disappointed if we didn't go and sign at least 3 CL level players for the remaining positions.

Signing projects like we've already done is fine when it's alongside ready-made players.

Given we signed Kyogo and Johnston for a combined £7.5million roughly, and got Carter Vickers on an initial loan, I’d say we certainly do have the funds to buy players who can compete at that level.

I think there's still room for another midfielder. Box to box style. Ideally I want a more experienced CDM but the Korean might be our lot.

What is a UCL quality player though?

There's been plenty teams over the years who haven't spent £30m per player and still had success in Europe.

We should know. We've been skudded by a few of them.

We have funds there that can make us at least compete...ffs at the minimum get a win!

It's not a fantasy at all. Not talking about winning the thing.

Although ange was good at getting in players he wasn’t great at getting rid of them… the amount of deadwood we have and need to offload and upgrade on us massive

The teams you speak of had great tacticians directing the players. Knutsen in particular seems to be capable of making players perform above their individual ability- many Bodo players flopped after getting moves abroad. Sensible tactics could get us to be 3. in CL groups even with these players ATM.

We do need better players, but tactics play an incredible role.

That’s because Argentina has an amazing track record of producing great footballers where as South Korea / East Asia doesn’t. I know you’re going to come back and say Bernabei hasn’t been amazing but if we signed 6+ Argies i bet our chances of them being Champions league level are very high

I'm not just talking about Bodo.

Malmo, Maribor, Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw, Shakhtar..I've probably missed some. They all didn't have great tacticians come on.

I agree that tactics are obviously huge but my point is that we don't need to spend £250m to make a dent in Europe. Look at the Huns ffs.

A lot of things go into it but we always greet about not making an impact in Europe when sides with a genuine fraction of our yearly budget have pumped us over the past decade.

I can't blame him that the club signed * like Ajeti.

Overall I'm actually quite deflated at the moment. We've lost one of our best players, a decent and experienced midfielder has retired and we have signed 2 guys with a combined 80 professional games. There hasn't been any solid rumours linking us to anybody decent. Holm and Tilio may come good and they deserve a chance but I'm not convinced either gets a start in Europe.

When someone is talking about replacing 6 or 7 players from our starting 11, so that we can be competitive in Europe… that’s a bit on the extreme side mate.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that we need to add a bit of quality to give this team a better fighting chance in the CL… but talking about replacing more than half the team is a complete fantasy.

We signed two already and although Jota has left our team remains pretty much the same. Let's be honest it is panty wetting to be so dramatic at this stage.
