I’m * hiding from news at the moment man. Ange warned us not to get attached.

I got * attached. The most I have for a long time, 2 fleeting years of a team I loved. Feels like the 3 Amigos when a was a wean

I'm in the minority here, but I think we don't need a midfield signing. We should spend big on Jota's replacement, perhaps a LB, CB and/or GK. Also, for the sake of stability, we should persuade Abada to stay.

I have to strongly disagree here. We’ve got some really good midfield options but we lack pace and physicality which is really important for Europe. Not saying we need many, but ideally one more body and then additionally selling someone like Turnbull and replacing him with someone of a higher quality would be ideal for me.

Rieder and Jashari as a pair would be excellent. They both seem to have athleticism and would fit our transfer model.

We have already brought in one midfielder that is Mooy's replacement. I guess we could replace Turnbull with one of your suggestions, but I 'd rather see us giving more time to Hakšabanović, Iwata...and concentrate funds on a small number of pricey targets.

I think both of those players have a part to play, but assuming Turnbull goes, we're still light in midfield and definitely lack balance. It'll be interesting to see where the funds goes, as overall I agree we should focus on a few more pricey targets instead of smaller funds being spent across the team, but just disagree on where it should be spent.

Who is Tete? Any actual links to him or is it just a hopeful thing

We have six players who can comfortably play in midfield, even without Turnbull. We just have to keep O'Riley and Hatate.

The next 3/4 signings better be in the quality/marquee signings that can walk right into the team and make us better or there will be more unrest.

We have had the wind knocked out of us twice now with Ange leaving and now Jota.

suggestion that Abada is wanted as well, we really need to be getting real first team quality into this side.

Hope we will be bringing player(s) in this week.

We best be reinvesting the whole Jota fee (minus benficas cut) on 2 or 3 top players. We absolutely cannot afford to sell Kyogo and/or Hatate unless we have some seriously decent replacements lined up. The drop off in quality would be too much.

it’s day 2 of return and because we did most of the business in the first few weeks last year it feels due to Ange and now Jota leaving like we are behind the curve, I like most didn’t expect Jota to leave, I did think that after the Cup Final he was more emotional than usual like he played his last game or maybe it was he knew Ange was leaving or something.

but we normally do our business quietly so I’m not to worried at present would like a name this week and if SD23 is reliable in any way then we might have something this week. Like everyone else I hope the money is reinvested into the team, I think we will lose at least 2 more Abada and Hatate, so I hope we have straight first team level or better replacements for them, I also think we’ll lose 2-3 squad players so again I hope this is we’re we use the model of your potential players

I know a few people have already said as much; but honestly, I'm only just now grasping how crazy that month was.

If you'd told me a few days before the cup final that in the first month of the summer, Ange would * off to Spurs within a few days and then be replaced by Brendan Rodgers and then Aaron Mooy would completely retire from football a few weeks later and Jota would leave for Saudi Arabia on 200k a week. Well, I probably would have believed you on the basis that no one could have made that up.

It is a bit mental when you think about it. Stop and think about it, that is.

Doesn't it feel like Ange has been gone for a couple of years rather than a month?

Doesn't even feel like he's gone.

    :(

Kidding. But aye. I think it'll only sink in that Rodgers is back once he's in the dugout first game of the season or once he's left mid season for Aston Villa.

Jota leaving makes it feel as though we need a proper signing. I don't want every signing this summer to be some 21-year-old from Timbuktu, where we all shrug and go 'aye maybe'. We need someone with a verifiable record of performance, where it's clear we're getting a quality player. For us to move forward as a club in terms of our football, we need to make at least some signings that can contribute at the highest level today, not in 5 years for whoever we sell them to.

Yes this, it would show intent, one top drawer player that can help us achieve a better performance in Europe but who, and should we just splurge the whole transfer kitty in one go that would be amazing 50m on one player can you imagine Lawell and Desmond faces if Nicholson did that I would pay to see that happen

It depends on their age and resale value IMHO. We're clearly not going to splurge £20 million on someone in their prime; but one of the advantages of having an elite coach with a proven track record of developing players is that, if a young player becomes available who is already so good they are worth £15 million, I think the board would be willing to buy them if they think we can develop and then sell them in 2 years for 30.

Ultimately, we want to reach that stage as that would be an insane step forward (and up the food chain if I can be allowed to mix metaphors) for us.

Of course, it wouldn't be without risk (e.g. injury); but if the right opportunity is there, I can genuinely see us taking the risk this time.

Jota done hee haw before he came to us so I’ll trust our scouts we have right now over signing someone just for their transfer fee. If we can get the next jota from Timbuktu for peanuts then jackpot. We should avoid looking for the big moneys cos we’ve got it. Could end up with a tore flo if we’re not careful
