Tete and Borges in the door using some of the Jota money with no other exits would soon have me on the positive march again.

We obviously need wingers and I'm certain the club will bring some in, and there has been some talk online about us going for a GK, but I really hope we see some talk regarding CB soon.

Welsh is most likely gone, Kobayashi isn't good enough and CCV won't be fully fit until the end of August, we're really weak there currently. Hope we see some LB links soon as well albeit I feel like we need to move Bernabei and/or Montgomery on first.

I'm back on board in that situ too.

    As it stands right now.

I'm brickin it that a superior Celtic squad will again be outdone by a pish Sevco squad of freebies and travellers with forward march.

No excuses not to spend about 40 million and bring in 4 or 5 high quality first team players. Especially if we're selling a few.

CCV had played over 100 pro games, whatever your view of the Championship is, you can't deny it's better quality than our league.

Our recruitment has been good last 2yrs, half of it down to Ange..

This summer was always going to be a testing one, even more so now.. over to you Mark and Michael..

On a side note, BR may be better at persuading players to stay, we'll at least he will attempt to, where as Ange was like, if you want to go go..
Not sure that works for every player, some want to feel wanted with new deals etc..

Although Ange's outlook was refreshing :56:, BR will be better at man management in those type of scenarios..

Past two season we got our targets in early and had plenty of time to get players up to speed

This season is starting to look like we could be going back to our old days of leaving things late and panic buying. The two we've got we almost certainly organized with Ange as manager.

There’s no way BR was taking the job without a huge budget surely? Especially if we are losing star players! We aren’t selling Jota etc with the likes of Holm and Tilio being the replacements, nothing against them but they are surely seen as project/squad players right now. Not to say they might burst onto the scene like Abada for example did.

I'm not panicked at the moment but the longer things go on the more worried I'd be. Its a change from getting AJ in November and was oh and one of the Japanese also signed before the transfer window

Still need to punt a few before we bring anymore in I'd say. Flash backs to Rodgers "million wingers" comments already.

He most be thinking "what the * is if with this club and stockpiling wingers"

Absolutely. I’m convinced GG didn’t have to go, and that in an ideal world he’d have wanted to stay and rotate with Kyogo.

Edit: Same with big Jenz too.

We should not in any way be worried about where we are at. Losing Jota is a blow and there are rumours about Hatate and they would be hard to replace but the spine of the team is very strong.

    Hart

    Johnston
    Starfelt
CCV (injured but hopefully back for start of the season)
Taylor (great as inverted fb- need upgrade if we go back traditional)

    McGregor
    New CM if Hatate leaves
O'Riley (will really suit Rodgers style)

    New LW
    Kyogo
Abada (could be unreal under Rodgers I think)

    Siegrist
    Ralston
Bernabei(one to watch under Rodgers maybe)
    Kobiayshi
    Maeda
    Halsabanovic
    Turnbull
    Oh
    Forrest
    Holm
    Tiling
    Iwata

If we do invest in say 3-4 really top players we should have more than enough to win the league and aim for 3rd in the Champions league group as long as we don't end up in the group of death.

Ange leaving knocked the schedule back a bit. The transition to Rodgers, in theory, shouldn't be too problematic but it's not really fair to expect there to be no bumps on the road in regards to recruitment due to the change in circumstances.

Recruitment is going to be even more important than I thought now - feel like we absolutely need to keep at least 2 from kyogo, hatate, o riley and Abada who have all been linked with moves. Rodgers has a good track record of improving players so hopefully that might sway things. Just don’t trust us as much in terms of getting the replacements in as I did under ange

Looking at players posted above just reiterates the injection of quality still needed.

Talking about 8 players I'd say.

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic arrival has handed fringe players at the club a reprieve as he has no immediate plans to cull his squad.

The Northern Irishman, 50, signed a three-year deal at Parkhead to return to the club where he enjoyed stellar success during his first stint in Glasgow. But he has inherited a strong if somewhat bloated squad from Ange Postecoglou. Most of the players currently turning out for the club were not in the door during Rodgers' first period and Football Scotland understands the boss fully intends to run the rule over the playing staff before making any decisions.

That means the likes of Albian Ajeti, Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Shaw and others will all have the same opportunity as the current first-team to make an impression.

Others who have interested clubs considering moves such as Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales will also not be sold until, again, Rodgers has assessed his squad.

It is expected to be a pre-season of change for the champions with Rodgers being handed a £30million kitty to strengthen the team and make them competitive in the Champions League while also looking to retain the treble

Don't really believe any clean slate talk, he'll have spoken to the coaching staff about fringe players and those out on loan and will know who isn't worth the time, Mikey Johnstone seems to have done alright and kept himself injury free during his loan so he probably gets one last chance, but not sure anyone else will.
