Rodgers about to obliterate the myth that he can’t spot a player, now the chief moron is no longer in a position to meddle.

Why don't I buy you a nice left back? Wash it down with a couple of wingers.

Serious cash on quality about to be spent! Will have some departures and maybe some income from Tierney and frimpong could be a cracker of a window

For me it's glaringly obvious where we need to strengthen. That is if we want to genuinely try and compete in Europe.

    GK
    Johnston CCV CB LB
    McGregor DM Hatate
    RW Kyogo Jota
Hart won't make the difference we need him to in big moments and is on the decline.

Starfelt is generally solid enough but I'd like someone less chaotic and more assured, especially on the ball. His position is the lowest priority in this list though.

Taylor did OK last year but he'll be a fish out of water in a more traditional LB role. Plus his lack of strength, pace and poor attacking output is a huge worry in Europe.

The most important area (once again) is midfield. We absolutely need a DM to have any chance of doing anything. Big Souza looked ideal, not sure if he's still an option. Iwata may come good but I don't think he's gonna make a massive difference tbh. We can't have McGregor pretending to be a DM again, he simply isn't good enough defensively to play that role.

Maeda doesn't strike me as a Rodgers player so Jota is a shoe-in for LW. But our RW needs upgrading badly. Abada isn't good enough at that level imo. Unless Rodgers works his magic on him I think we should be looking for someone better.

If we sort these positions out and keep the likes of CCV, Hatate and Kyogo then I'll be the most confident I've ever been going into the CL/EL. It's a lot of work though and a lot we need to get right.

I think Kelleher goes on loan or you have to pay a hefty fee for a keeper that has little experience. I'm sure he's decent or will be but I think he would command nearly 10m which would be a lot.

I know alot of this is in jest, but don't get too worked up lol.

Rodgers will get money, zero doubt about that.

But it's probably more of a "ok, we promise to push the boat out a little bit more and not * you like last time", as opposed to "here's a gazillion quid, go nuts".

It probably also involved raiding the wage cap by a few grand too.

a loan to buy would work ,when hes proved himself over the season £10m shouldnt be a stumbling block to a young talented keeper especially when you consider how much we will get for being in the champions league 2 years running (£80m?)

In terms of what we get from CL Prize money and TV is worth around £52m, if you add the ticket sales just for the CL package your looking at another £6-7m a season on top of that.

So overall it is worth between £64-66m to us. However the surplus if you want to call it that needs to be compared to EL groups as that is what we budgeted for in the past. That is worth around £10-12m in prize and TV money and around £4-5m in ticket sales per season. So between £28-£32m.

Therefore, the benefit to us of CL over EL is between £32-£38m over the two seasons. It is also worth mentioning the CL figure is based on the two draws performance last year so actually win a couple of games rather than draw them would be worth another £3m-ish as you get over £2m a win and about £800k a draw.

Seen figure of 35mil somewhere. Hoping that could or would increase if we have player sales and that's not a figure with us knowing a few are already away.

    We need quality over quantity

So it’s not because it’s money we won’t be getting but see when we make a cash flow budget for a season, it has been said as a club we budget for Europa League group stages as a minimum.

Without CL groups money and/or player trading having a surplus, we make a small operational loss. Even for the 21/22 season where we posted a profit overall we made an OPEX loss of around £3.5m.

So essentially the money we make for the EL group we already spend it on our expenses such as wages, maintenance, etc. Therefore it’s not just sitting there for us to spend on transfers.

This season just passed I suspect we will make about £10-15m of an OPEX profit rather than the loss we incurred in 21/22.

The transfer kitty will look pretty rosy this summer as we have two years guaranteed CL surplus but also likely to make a couple of big sales in the transfer market.

My suspicion is these big figures of available funds for Rodgers will include selling a couple of our first team squad to generate £20-30m combined with the profits from OPEX and cash at the bank.
