We already do. Every team does it. Of all LB about there. There isn't one who wasn't better, affordable and wanted to come to the club than Taylor.

It was a top priority that needed addressed.

 

Yeah I get that, I'm not saying all can be binned at once, was more about highlighting us having far too big a squad and large percentage of the players not being good enough and fact 2 are LBs and 2 are Gks only highlights the areas what everyone thought we needed to target this summer.

I think both Palma and Johnston could play Wingback, obviously you'd need to see if Palma has the defensive awareness for it but he's certainly got the pace and Physicality for it, as does Johnston.

It'll be interesting to see if Rodgers goes down that route once Nawrocki and CCV are back.

Yeah exact same, and it's something that could honestly work.

Let's be honest, teams, both domestically and in Europe, will target Taylor when they play us. All it takes is one semi-fast winger against Taylor and teams will have a chance against us, he's arguably been the worst player in the 4 games we've played so far.

Having a fast and strong Wing-back like Palma in there could help a lot. He'd get away with not being overtly defensive against lower teams like Dundee and Kilmarnock, and against tougher teams we could change the lineup to be more defensive.

Johnston could easily play wingback, fast, strong, good with the ball and aggressive as *, I actually think he'd thrive there.

The only issue with that formation is the lack of a physical midfielder in there, but it's something I hope we try as the season goes on, and I think we'll see if once Nawrocki and CCV are back.

Brendan Rodgers admits he would have liked a few more faces in the door at Celtic this summer - but may add again in January.

The manager secured Paulo Bernardo from Benfica earlier this evening to add to Nat Phillips and Luis Palma who already arrived this week. Added to the plethora of other signings brought before the rush towards the end including Maik Nawrocki, Yang and Gustaf Lagerbielke, and the manager has been relatively satisfied with the work done.




Of course, as any boss will tell you, there can always be more upgrades made to a squad and Celtic are no different. But as the window gets set to close at midnight, Rodgersaccepted that January could be their next venture.

I think every manager will tell you by the window they always wish they could have done more in certain aspects. For us there was the question of can we improve the depth of the squad knowing some players were going to maybe want to move on?




Then there’s the unexpected in terms of Jota and Carl Starfelt. That’s what you’re always looking to balance in the window but I think it’s an ongoing situation here.

“We would have wanted to improve the squad this window then whatever we can’t get because of either the availability isn’t there or the players aren’t affordable then we move to the next window. But in between times I’ll work with the players who are here and look to develop them.”
