Who knows moves we’ve tried to go for, the Hoiijdonk one seems to have been talked about in a way that seems more definite than lazy journalism for me.

But how many have we tried, why’s it taken to this time of the window.

Feel like we’ve waited for somebody that didn’t end up ours again, which is old habits and I’d say that’s down to Rodgers if it’s the case. Our business under Ange was sharp due to him not * about with saying we don’t want you then if guys were using us as an option in the background or not showing they were keen on the club.

Was really, really hoping for something by now.

Again, CCV's transfer did legit come in the final hour of the window, and although he was linked before in the window, it wasn't anything concrete.

The only hope I have is no Journalist has came out and said we're done after Bernardo yet.

Kicking the LB AND GK can down the road until January, when we've known we needed new additions there since May, is beyond negligent. Only way I can see us not wanting a LB is if we go 3 ATB when CCV/Nawrocki is fit.

5 hours left either way, and even if we do get a LB in, this window has been a shambles.

I think we can. Certainly Nawrocki and Yang look the best placed to become quality players but it is very early. Here is people's issue- the model we work under is fine and has worked quite well however problems occur in getting us to the next level. Taking that little bit of risk. Champions League money and the Jota transfer plus a very healthy bank balance means the money is there to push the boat out. 2 players who without question go into our starting line up and improve us. Hard to get. Yes but our issue is wages. We won't push the boat out. And that means you consistently shop in a market of hope.

Is it beyond the realms to have expected 2 signings who immediately improve on what we have without question? I don't think it is. We are hoping players turn out good rather than knowing we can go into the CL for instance with a little bit of belief of even managing third.

Yeah something needs to happen in the next hour I feel. I wouldn't be suprised if we signed Ryan Bertrand as back up at this stage. Its tye hope that kills you pal.

Yeah I'm not sure we were ever actually in for van Hooijdonk.

Definitely clear to see now it was an Ange policy getting deals done quick and not Nicholson, which is *.

Doesn't bode well for January if we're desperate for cover up front come the Asia cup.

It’s a team effort definitely, Nicholson I think will go for the managers wishes. If Rodgers wants to hang about for a player that he thinks we might get, because it’s worth the risk, then he’ll do that.

Ange wasn’t a wait and see sort. First summer when the club were doing that, like we normally operate, he absolutely made sure that it wasn’t acceptable and said as much publicly while blaming himself for it completely.

Think the Asia Cup overlaps with the winter break a bit, but Japan and South Korea should both go far.

No one I’ve seen has disputed that our signings could go on to be excellent pieces of business. Of course they could. There is a huge element of risk though, surely far more than signing more established players? We have the money there, tens of millions and we still don’t push the boat out for 2/3 signings that could have seen us really go to the next level?

That’s even before we get onto the fact that we have not upgraded our Goalkeeper and our Left back, two positions that every single person on this forum wanted upgraded. You didn’t even need to spend transfer record money, there has been plenty of players in these positions that have moved this summer we could have been in pole position for. A monkey could see Hart and Taylor need upgraded on.

The complete lack of any rumours at this point, credible or otherwise, isn’t a great sign.

In saying that, and it’s probably pure hopium at this point, I’m choosing to believe we’ve got some CCV-esque deal(s) lined up post 11pm.

    100% agree.

Disappointed that Taylor and Hart haven't been improved on if it stays this way.

Maybe our squad being bloated has an influence on limiting who we bring in?

This time next year, Kwon, Iwata, Kobayashi, Hart, Siegrist, McCarthy, Scales, Haksabanovic, Bernabei and Ajeti won't be at the club. They'll all leave between tonight and September 2024. Some permanently and the rest will be on loan with a view of making their departure permanent.

In reality, only Hart, Siegrist and Bernabei will need replacing. Obviously, anyone outside of that list needs replacing.

A bloated squad where 6 players won't see more than a combined 200 minutes over the next season. What's the point?

We know we need better than Hart and Bernabei now. Where's the forward thinking? In fact, it's not even forward thinking. It's now.

This would be a good way to end the day.

Especially if it's a left back.

Being honest I'm much happier with what we have now than a few weeks ago.

Our squad is massive, with too many injuries.

Are people genuinely trying to compare signing Kyogo, a player who scored 52 goals and had 18 assists in 108 games for Vissel Kobe in the J-League to a 21 year old winger from the K-League who scored 9 goals and had 6 assists in 66 games for Gangwon?

Come on now. Anyone trying to say that Kyogo was an unknown quantity is off their heads. Just because we weren’t aware of his ability doesn’t mean he’s unknown. Our ex manager literally spoke a couple of weeks ago about how Kyogo from Vissel Kobe and Mitoma/Hatate ran rings around his players in the J-League. They were being bought by a manager who knew EXACTLY what he was getting.

Aye, I reckon our only chance of bringing another is after the English window closes at 11pm and they're trying to punt players on the cheap.

Could be a mad hour for us, if we're interested at all.

Injury to Kyogo and we would be in trouble, really need another striker in the door to give us that extra option.
