I have no doubt we are working on trying to grt deals done but, few in media claimed we would get 5 this week and thats been the narrative right up until today.

There isn't a link of reputed connection to anyone so have accepted it with be the Portuguese centre mid today and thats it now!

I believe it may be worse than that I don’t think we have spent £20m this year yet.

We have basically spent about £17-18m and about £23.5m from January whilst bringing in between £41-£45m the time the Jura and GG add ons come in. I pick that time period as it takes us back to the interim accounts.

An honest assessment is we are just a terrible club when it comes to transfer strategy. I don’t believe we have one. We don’t have one, it is all just scatter gun.

Targeting the Asian market has mainly came about because when Ange came in he came from the market so knew it well but without him here I am not convinced we actually have a good footballing insight into who we are targeting. Even just the breakdown of positions surely you only sign a Tilio or a Yang, particularly if you’re looking to bring Vata through as suggested?

Kwon being then signed when we were committed to Iwata seems just plain stupid, especially since he is 22 so it’s not like he is at a good age to be loaning out to bring in to the first team fold or even eligible for B games. When you combine that with Holm as another centre midfield signing, we have lost an experienced high level player in Mooy and look like we are replacing him with a 22 year old from a second tier, a 20 year old from a struggling team in Norway and a loan to buy for what looks like a talented guy but still inexperienced.

The biggest crime is not addressing the original target positions, but that doesn’t surprise me before spending on Barkas the last time we paid a decent fee for a keeper was probably Forester after two loans in 2012. In the past 28 years we have only spent more than £2m on a keeper twice.

    - Gould £50k
    - Douglas £1.5m
    - Hedman £1.5m
    - Marshall home grown
    - Boruc £600k
    - Forester £2.5m
    - Gordon free
    - De Vries £500k
    - Forester loan
    - Barkas £4.5m
    - Hart £1.2m

The mental thing is having only really sold one keeper for a decent fee in all that time we have probably broke even.

Left back recruitment is clear evidence we don’t know what we are doing we have had two good ones, one that was homegrown in about 15 years, Izzy being the only other good signing the first time round.

We should be enjoying today. Looking at all the ins and outs of teams all over Europe, and quietly hoping we pull something special out of the bag.

Instead its a * nightmare day to see if the club can actually perform the surgery on our squad that's sorely needed, and praying these last minute deals arent panic buy punts.

    * Dermot Desmond. * the board. And yes... * Rodgers too.

    * disgrace

Imagine then if we have closer to £100m in cold hard cash and don't get a few in today, * result on Sunday and then the full 22/23 account due out in 3 weeks could get very toxic

Not sure we will have more than that in the bank, I was more just commenting on the footballing side.

Since January we have definitely fell back towards previous dark days after having good squads, start selling off good players and signing scattergun replacements rather than focusing on bringing in a couple of higher quality players with the money. How many times has that happened now in the last 20 years this be the 4th or 5th?

If this is it we better hope Nawrocki (when fit), Palma plus two of the others come good as that’s what we need to even be close to standing still.

Unless something silly happens today the board have failed us.

Fans are taken for granted year after year as we keep just throwing money at the club.

I said yesterday I checked our champions league opponents transfer activity and all had a big departure for money but the only difference is the other 3 properly reinvested it back in. I'm not saying it guarantees success but gives you best possible chance.

I can't see how Rodgers can be happy with this as the fans will turn on him very quickly if results are not up to scratch.

I pray for a miracle today but can't see where it comes from.

I have a feeling our transfer strategy is to see who England need to get rid of because of their squads being limited in numbers. We'll see who needs a new home.

    Some strategy.

I hope for a CCV, Jota and GG end to the window but I'll be shocked if I'm not correct.

Could be worse. Could just be the Portuguese lad and then lights out.

We really need a left back and midfielder and striker coming in today anything less then the board back to their usual of quite happy for domestic success but Europe won't be taken seriously and if that's the case the fans deserve better.

Ungrateful sods the lot o yeh. You had two years of sexy football, now it’s the boards time to enjoy looking at zero’s on a balance sheet.

    We either:
    - have scouts that can't find a left back that would satisfy Rodgers
    - don't want to spend what is required to buy a good LB
    - aren't looking for one that desperately, just like we aren't going for a GK.

I can't discount any possibility. That in itself is scary.

It’s alright guys we have no GK or LB lined up but we have a 120 year celebration of the hoops top out which will be more cash in ours and Adidas’s pockets.

The tone death nature of the club is frightening.

We have been sold the big boys that are top quality wait to the end of the window to decide where they are going. At the moment we haven’t signed any one that fits that narrative or even comes close to it. Hopefully I am proven wrong but that excuse above just seems again total waffle.

We were told a few seasons back, unequivocally, guaranteed, that every penny from incoming from transfer business was, is and would be put directly into the playing squad.

Let's cut to luke Shanley to discover what's happening north of the border

"Well celtic have signed Pablo from benfica but whilst we have been told they are working away the feeling is that's celtic business done for the window"

Let's just fast forward 12 hours today and get it done with...

When someone on the board said we can compete in Europe a few years back it doesn't mean to hoist the white flag up and just ignore the squad and spend * all and to get humiliated in the champions League then we need a new board who have the drive and ambition to make us competitive in any of the European competitions.

I know I know, the sun, nevertheless here's hoping.
