Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

He obviously has an affinity to the club.

There will be around 10-11 jobs that become available in the PL this season.

He’s hardly skint, could have bided his time and got one of those.

 

Not sure it's that simple. His stock was low after Leicester, so it might have taken a few months, but the way chairmen in the bottom half of the EPL press the panic button, I'm sure he'd have got offers .

If not the EPL then one of the Championship sides hoping for promotion.

 

No chance we were his only offer! As much as I dislike him, I wouldn't solely blame what happened at Leicester on him. He wasn't backed after doing well. Other club chairmen will see this and know he's a decent manager. Rodgers knew as far back as the scots semis thst we might be looking for him this season.

 

He might have gotten offers down the line but he might not have. People involved in the game enjoy being involved, they miss ot when they are out of it, most will jump at any avenue back in.

 

We were his only offer. That's why accepted a job without promises of a big transfer budget. If he had a good enough offer down south, he'd have taken it. In fact, he was rumored to have asked us for the job- begged for it. I'm sure there were rumors like that as soon as Ange formally left. And of course, if you're begging for a job, you don't get to dictate terms.

He seems subdued and downcast. It's because he wants to be down south, and Scotland is a bit harder than it was last time around. No big money for transfers, either. But it's either that or being out of the spotlight.

 

That's just speculation though. What we know for certain is we made him an offer which he took and that plenty of clubs in England had dispensed with and/or were in the market for managers in the time he was out of work.

 

We were possibly his only offer at the time, but I don't think he came back here just to be in a job.

Last time he was here he did everything that was asked of him on the domestic front but was awful in Europe.

I can't believe he came back with the intention of doing worse than last time and being even more woefull in Europe.

Perhaps he over estimated his coaching ability and thought he could get more out of the players than he has.

But I'm still clinging to the hope that he's been promised major funds and is going to splash the cash in the next few days.

 

2 years ago was our real chance.

Lots of unrests and protests. People were holding off renewing and ironically another of the boards * ups actually saved them.

Opinion changed massively after Ange's 1st press conference and there was then a massive increase in season ticket sales over the next week.

The only way you can hurt these * us in the pocket but people dont want to stop going to games or risk losing their season ticket so the board know they can do whatever the like and get away with it.

he would have gotten a job sooner rather than later, a manager will be sacked in PL by October. PL averaged 2 managers per team last season.

 

This window has the hallmarks of BR’s last two summer windows in his first stint.

There’s been so many good points by many posters here and I can’t help but feel this window, BR returning, Lawell having influence along with Desmond and losing Jota is all adding up to a dumpster fire.

I really hope this window can be rescued, but it’s the hope that kills you, so sadly I can’t see the window being salvaged.

Even before next week, it's difficult to know if we're stronger than last season.. we may well be and we look back on the window as a window we added serious quality..

 

I feel that was a media operation. Like, he decided to accept this job despite the option of taking a hiatus. That was the narrative. Why would he come here if nothing was promised to him in terms of an European transfer budget. He had no better offers- that's it. And he's too egotistical to be out of the spotlight.

 

It shouldn't need rescued tho. Season started 3 weeks ago. Business should of been done long ago

This. They could well be like jota, hatate and so on. People on here need to chill abit. It's going to be an exciting season and we're still going to win the league. Not a * chance are we going to * it up like the 10IAR season. If we slip up untill Jan, I've full confidence DD will splash out then. I'm not worrying like others on here

 

I agree it shouldn’t need rescuing, we definitely shouldn’t at this stage need 5 in to be a stronger team than last year, but here we are.

 

Rodgers refused to be drawn on names:

It’s a certain type of profile. We have brought players in that over the course of time will be very good players for us but we are looking at starters now, and perform. It is definitely an area we are looking at.

We are getting exactly what we deserve this season.

Penny pinching and gambling that we would be ok despite selling Jota and being in best financial position I've seen my 40 years as a fan.

Losing the will to give a * if I'm honest. Board don't give a * why should we?

Europe is gonna be brutal
