Which is the extra annoying thing, that was always part of the excuses allowed to be accepted for years - we need to wait what competition we are in, to be able to entice players. Or wait to see if we can push the boat out a little more with UCL money over UEL money.

Got that * sorted - still do * all in the market. Now the line being allowed to be told (I say it this way, as the club arent saying it, but they are happy to allow it to be out there), that we are waiting on EPL clubs deciding what players they want and who they deem to be *.

So yeah, want to make inroads in europe, but we wait for clubs NOT in europe to discard their players not even good enough for a club NOT in European football.

    Brilliant idea.

Agree on a number of things there.

I’m still holding onto the hope we pull something out the bag late on in the window that’ll be worth the wait. The fact that we have been “monitoring” players like Podence, KT and the Croatian goalie who are players worth a lot of money and would be huge wages make me wonder why are we signing projects worth a cpl of million. Projects I’ve have nothing against but we need established first team players too. If we really were “monitering” these types of players we are either looking at that type of signing or we are just throwing out these sound bites saying “look we tried”. If it’s the latter then how thick do they think we are? Oh sorry we couldn’t get the £9m winger or £8m goalie but look we got this guy for £2m…blah blah blah…

But as I say they still have time to prove us wrong. But even then it’s still quite late. Throwing a team together before an away derby.

Celtic want to sign five more players in an astonishing last-window spree, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants are in talks with Greek club Aris FC over a deal for winger Luis Palma after submitting a £3.5million bid.

Celtic are also targeting a new goalkeeper, left-back and centre-forward, while they are now in the market for a centre-back.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Thursday that injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh means the club will have to turn to the market for a replacement.

With four other positions the club want to fill, Celtic are likely to be very busy over the next week.

It is believed talks are already underway over securing their top targets in the positions identified

Last week (19 August), Football Insider has been told by sources that the Hoops were well placed to sign Kieran Tierney after Newcastle United ended their interest in the left-back.

The former Celtic star has been linked with a sensational return but it is now looking likely that the Scotland international will join Real Sociedad on loan for the current campaign.

Rodgers could still be set for exits this summer with Football Insider revealing (24 August) that winger Sead Haksabanovic is looking to quit the club before the end of the window.

The 24-year-old has been frustrated by a lack of minutes in the side especially since the Glasgow giants lost fellow winger Jota earlier in the window.

First bid rejected for Palma. Second bid in at around €5m and looks like it will be accepted.

Complete and utter negligence and nothing more.

We’ve absolutely mastered being in a position of strength and simply refusing to capitalise on it.

There has always been the theory that the business model from the board was if we pull too far away from Rangers the interest will be lost
If we spend to get far ahead of them, we still won’t make a dent in the Champions League so what’s the point

I’ve always hoped that wasn’t the case. But far too many times now in a position of strength we have done this exact thing!

We will get sucked into another toe to toe with Rangers, could even possibly loose the league. But like lemmings we will all get caught up in it and buy in again next year.

The players brought in who have been a success were one that Ang personally knew of.
The rest, including the ones bought this year (even when we didn’t have a manager) look miles off. They are absolutely not brought in to improve us. They will keep us at a level then gamble they are half decent to sell on and put more money in the bank

it’s just happened too many times to not be true. I wouldn’t be surprised the longer Ang was here he became aware of this and knew there was always going to be a ceiling he wasn’t going to be allowed to break.
When he first came in it was lots of talk about regularly getting in the champions league, keep pushing on getting better players and progressing. By the end he looked dejected and demotivated

it’s so frustrating because if the shoe was on the other foot you can bet your life rangers would spend every penny to stomp us into oblivion.

We need to make the board aware that we know of this bullshit business model

Yeah it seems that way. With the amount of money we have we could be streets ahead of rangers but everytime it looks like we're about to go up a level we have a nightmare. Our team that beat barca got decimated and we replaced the majority of them on the cheapz then got Delia who we never really seemed to back, then we backed rodgers for a while did well and then seemed to stop.

    It's infuriating.

The players should have been in and played tomorrow at the latest. If and it’s a big if we bring in 3 or 4 next week will they be ready and firing for the huns game? We should give them no encouragement at all. Team should have been ready to pound them into the dirt

Sounds like Palma is all but done I wonder who will be next. Hopefully get another rumour today at some point. It’s the kind of pace we need to move at now.

Hopefully once Palma's deal is done we'll move on to LB and GK.

    Exactly...Just like in 2003,2012 and now......Its a * disgrace.

We have had our boot on the throats of these * so many times and yet we let them back up again.

The board are exactly that "Negligent". They want the huns here and to be giving us a game for the money nothing else.

We have had multiple times over the years been in such a dominant position and we * it up all the time.

Sick to * death of our board and lack of speed in windows to strengthen. No Qualifiers and a new manager in near 3 months ago now....and look at the state of us going into the CL and Hun game

Hit by a triple whammy of injuries in central defence and an injury to midfielder Reo Hatate, Brendan Rodgers will look to add to the squad before next weekend’s first Old Firm clash of the season against Rangers.

Left-back and central defence are now priority positions, with a goalkeeper likely if Benjamin Siegrist goes out in search of first-team action.

A GK should be coming in regardless of Siegrist staying ffs.
