GK is just too unique of a position to be chopping and changing like that. Besides, Hart is rumored to have MLS interest for a winter transfer. Let's sort out the position with an immediate purchase.

Ronnie Simpson was 35 years old when he joined Celtic and 37 when he was in Lisbon and would take a goalkeeper that age if hes still a good shot stopper and good with his feet with a ball .

How * hard is it to find a 21-27 year old
keeper who is a good shot stopper and not a bomb scare with the ball at his feet?

Must be loads around. Go and sign one.

To be honest I think Luis Parma looks really good for £3.5m, if you can get quality without spend £7m you should go with that.

No I don't. But this obsession a lot of our fan base have that Hart is a bomb scare and that goalkeepers with the attributes you described grow on trees, is astounding.

Hart isn't perfect but he is absolutely nowhere the liability some portray him as.

And ill say this- when we do replace him- his replacement better have passing ability of prime Pirlo and the shot stopping ability of prime Forster or this place will go into meltdown.

    Hyperbolic pish.

Hart is a complete bomb scare with the ball at his feet and always has been - hence Pep punting him as soon as he became manager when Hart was just about at his peak. His reaction time and agility, overall mobility, is decreasing at a rapid rate. He's as slow as a week in the jail. He doesn't command his box anywhere near the way he should given his size.

Is he still a decent shot stopper? Aye. And his communication and leadership are obviously valuable traits. But it's absolutely clear to anyone who has been watching our games that he needs to be replaced and upgraded on immediately because he's only getting worse. He's already cost us a goal in the league and we're only two games in.

To your first paragraph. You don't think goalies who are good shot stoppers and competent on the ball aren't kicking about in various leagues? I'm not talking about keepers like Ederson or Onana who could probably do a job outfield. I'm meaning someone who doesn't look like they've never kicked a ball before.

It always amazes me how some people think signing a good keeper is so difficult. We manage to find strikers who can bang goals in, link up play and have good mobility. Midfielders who look comfortable on the ball, can create and score goals. Full backs who can do both sides of the game and give us energy and pace.

Yet we shouldn't be expected to sign a goalkeeper who is an upgrade on 36 year old, immobile, Joe Hart. Reeks of happy clapping pish, or just a general delusion.

Is Dubravka proper * with his distribution?

34 doesn't worry me as much. Quite a few keepers are fine, almost at their peak in that age group but obviously if you could get a keeper at 28 and on form, you could be getting 4/5 good years out of them..

Right now he's an upgrade on Hart though..

Have you seen the blooper reels involving these keepers? And how much did they cost? It amazes me that you truly believe that finding a ball playing goalkeeper that is an excellent shot stopper should be a forgone conclusion. There's a reason they go for £50m+ and even then they are prone to howlers from time to time.

''Hart is a complete bomb scare and always has been'' -How many goals have we lost from Hart * up with his feet in the last two seasons?

And you're suggesting that I'm engaging in hyperbole...?

Dubravka was absolutely class a few years back, been displaced by Nick Pope but that's no real worry to me.

A loan would be pointless for both us and Newcastle, would need to be a LTB or a straight buy. Age doesn't bother me, it would be kicking the can down the road but if he's solid then it's a position that's sorted for another 2/3 years.

If finding a complete, modern goalkeeper is so easy, how did we stumble upon Barkas?

This idea that fans are asking for a keeper with the passing of Xavi or Pirlo is getting boring.

Hart is one of the worst about for playing on the deck and has been for years.

It was shown again at the weekend and it's only a matter of when not if it happens again.

We don't need a complete all-rounder but if folk think we can't improve on him Jesus. I dunno what to say.

    What are you on about?

I've already told you I'm not talking about an outrageously good ball playing goalkeeper. Just one who is able to look fairly comfortable on the ball. Scott Bain is miles better on the ball than Hart, for example. You're telling me a good shot stopper with Bain's ability on the ball would be going for £50m plus?

Daniel Peretz. Vladan Kovacevic. Predrag Rajkovic. There's three off the top of my head who would be an instant upgrade on Hart and cost somewhere between £5-10m.

I don't know how many as I haven't been counting. I'm just using my eyes though, which is something you're obviously not doing. Hart is dreadful with the ball at his feet and it's weird that you're trying to suggest he isn't.

    Who said it's easy?

Barkas was great in Greece and the Netherlands. It didn't work out here for whatever reason. It happens.

In the last couple of years we've managed to 'stumble' upon Kyogo, Hatate, Johnston, Jota, CCV, Starfelt, Abada, O'Riley... you think it's beyond us to 'stumble' upon a better keeper than Joe Hart?
