Without knowing the details it looks like every window we go…

    “how much?”

    “X millions*

    “too expensive”.

Then open the window willing to spend that last valuation but they want more again.

Very meh but admittedly based off a ten minute YouTube video. Everything he does looks a struggle, his body position is awful when he receives it.

Looks good defensively though, the French market is one i think we should be lookijg at more. Lower end very reasonably priced and a lot of very good players and a physical league.

Well, if it’s a straight up choice between Kvistgaarden and Orban, you’re choosing Orban every single day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I’ve been one of the biggest supporters of the Kvistgaarden potential deal. I would pay the £12m it would take to purchase him. However, Orban is a machine. He’s a monster. His record is phenomenal, probably better than Kvistgaarden. 64 goals and 9 assists in 114 games. Played in the top leagues in France and Germany. Great record in Belgium. Kvistgaarden has played 184 times, scored 80 goals and 30 assists but only done in Denmark.

Orban is an out and out striker though. Which is what we need.

Orban went to Hoffenheim for 9 mill euros, if they're looking to get rid of him after one season you'd imagine they'd take that back.

When you actually look closer he has been a bit part player since signing with Hoffenheim, a decent number of appearances but around half the games he was a sub if not more.

They have also bought a young striker from Koln or signed him on a Bosman and have one of their players that had a great loan coming back so it might be they have decided they would take their money back if they could get it? Or the player maybe wants regular game time and is not happy with being in and out.

Well if he was already not getting regular game time ,and they have two more added than there may be some sense in it.
I may be clutching optimistically as per, but if he can be signed, we should absolutely go all out to get it done. Genuinely lightning quick and a really sharp finisher. Would be frightening in the SPL and allow us to go in behind quickly in Europe with a lot of these better sides who will play a higher line against us.

The link comes comes from KDS . Poster claims we tried to get him late in January on loan with an option , but was sold to Hoffenheim instead, and that we have now contacted Hoffenheim about taking him this summer. Pinch of salt....

I think I'd rather have Orban if I'm honest.

    Much better pedigree.

I can see it being true that we tried for him. What I would say is, bit of a red flag if in the space of 18 months two clubs were happy to let him go.

  11. I think we do not need a striker, regardless of Orban's strange club situation. We got Osmand, and that completes our striker lineup. I'm more worried by the lack of recent LB rumors.

    I generally agree.

However, the counter argument is that in remaining with one club, Kvistgaarden has had to establish himself amongst a variety of other attackers, has become their clear first choice, and would be leaving with a good form record.

If Orban were to come here, we would be the fourth club he’s signed for in the last 2 and a half years. That’s crazy, and - along with his stats in France and Germany (especially re starting appearances) - suggests he’s failed to settle anywhere he’s been since Gent. Even then, he was only there a calendar year. Last three moves have all been in January windows, curiously.

Overall, Orban looks like he has better attributes, but a sketchier record, and possibly a tendency to jump ship too soon.

So I certainly see the argument in someone preferring Kvistgaarden, if you’re looking for a player who is settled and on-form. I just think Orban has better skills and traits, and is young enough to turn it back around.

With these sorts of rumours you never know how much truth is in them to begin with, but assuming there is at least some (which at least provides some fun speculation between the more credible signs of us doing business) it is interesting that we’re still potentially sniffing around strikers. Maybe it’s just contingency planning, but I am curious how the first-choice striker situation, and its effects on the LW, ends up playing out over the summer.

To throw in some other Non-Media rumours:

I saw someone mention in a Celtic Chat thread that a poster on KDS has claimed that Rodgers had told the board that he basically dosen’t want us to sell Hatate. In addition to that claim, that same poster is also saying that Ørjasæter is our main target this summer and that Carter-Vickers isn’t interested in leaving (and has rejected offers from Germany). Obviously there’s been other rumours to the contrary, and it could all be a load of *, but it’s something to talk about I suppose.

Heard a couple people say that about CCV. Would be surprised if he didn't fancy testing himself again down south or elsewhere but * knows.

I like both but I think that Orban reflects what we need far more than Kvistgaarden.

Orban is a year younger, too. Lyon bought him for big money and sold him on and there are numerous reasons for it. They’re in financial difficulty, meaning they need to sell players and fast, they sacked their manager as fans weren’t happy and appointed Fonseca, who probably would have suited the way Orban plays. Granted, he wasn’t first choice there and he’s not been first choice at Hoffenheim either but he’s not flopped at any of these clubs. He had a 1 in 4 record at Lyon and he’s got a 1 in 3 record in Germany. I get the instability. He got a big move to Lyon last summer and then a move to Hoffenheim in Germany because Lyon are in an absolute financial nightmare. We’ve shown that we are a step up from some German clubs, given we signed Engels from Augsburg.

I was told ages ago (possibly last summer when a few rumours came up about him) that he has no interest in moving down south or elsewhere for the sake of it. He’d only go if he felt the club was capable of competing for trophies and playing in Europe. He’s settled here and enjoys the pressure of having to win.

Of course that may change in time, but I think it says alot about him.

Hopefully true. As I say it's been said a few times. I also think he'd perhaps have left by now.

    Would love him to stay.
