Orban would be the type you would try for if Maeda leaves. He's absolutely rapid , strong , presses like * and has that type of work rate. Would be a serious fee involved there .

 

He looks good, and if we're scouting a RB it probably means Ralston might be out the door.

Always a bit wary with signing players from Bodo though. Don't get me wrong, I'd still take someone like Berg in a heartbeat, but they never seem to do well when they leave.

 

The guy only signed a new deal in April, I think if we were going for someone like that it would be more likely a Johnston replacement than Ralston.

 

Highly doubt it, he's still young and it would allow us to prepare for Johnston leaving next year, which he likely will.

Would be way to risky to replace someone like Johnston with a 20 year old, even if he looks decent.

 

AJ will probably attract a lot of interest this summer not harm in us looking at replacements just in case

 

Gift Orban would be class for us but probably not worth the outlay against risk.

Has had a very odd couple years but looked a joke when he broke in.

 

Obviously we could just be doing some proactive scouting for somewhere down the road (which is always a positive), but unless Johnston is potentially for the off, you would think a RB is probably comfortably down our list of priorities. While I think Ralston knows where his bread is buttered, and probably wouldn’t kick up a fuss if he was effectively being demoted to third place/happy-to-be-here squad player, I’d be surprised if that was something we were even considering. Unless it was a succession planning thing, I don’t think we’d be spending relatively decent money on a second choice either.

Wikipedia weirdly has him listed as a midfielder, rather than a RB. According to Transfermarkt he’s played there a handful of times, both as a CM and a DM, but it’s a small percentage in comparison to his time at RB. Weirdly though his games played by position doesn’t actually match up with the number of games he’s actually played. I guess that’s probably just a case of no one caring enough to keep those sort of stats up to date.

 

I just couldn’t see us paying what it would take to sign the boy if he was to be back up. Also despite him only being 20 he has been a first team regular with Bodo/Glimt for a full season and a bit now, has played over 100 senior games for them and 22 times in Europe between CL qualifying and the run to the Europa league semi final.

I don’t think we would pay the money required or the player would come if he thought he wasn’t going to be starting games right from the off.

 

Would be very wary of signing anyone from Bodo.

They are such a unique club, in a very unique part of the world. Very few who have moved on have done so successfully amd most end up back there within a year or so

 

Completely agree . Every player we have been linked with or supposedly spoken to looks really good and we look like we will be getting plenty of bang for our buck looking at those markets , think Tisdale will prove to be a vital appointment. Dont want to open a can of worms on Idah but 9m for him is the type of business we need to avoid like the plague moving forward.

 

Don't understand the talk of Orban, why not just spend the money on Kvistgardeen....
