Anyone been on KDS? This might sound a bit mad but I’ll post it anyway hahahhah so someone on KDS said a poster on the huddleboard said we’re in for Chris Mepham, Bournemouth CB and welsh international 6ft4. Apparently the poster knows a young lad that was caddying for them playing golf and Mepham dropped out at the end for a zoom call with Rodgers.

Would take that. Was really highly rated when he first broke through. Maybe struggled to get momentum in the prem but wont hold that against him.

 

I quite like the look of both Mepham and Clarke-Salter wouldn't be against either of those

Blew his load announcing a deal for Coleman, and it’s still ongoing talks edging closer. The rest is just guys he’s signed in FM to keep an eye on.

Depends on what Rodgers thinks about Nawrocki, can see him 4th choice, Scales 3rd, new CB and Welsh sticking around.


Welsh being one Rodgers likes, is good for the homegrown stuff, but won’t trust due to injuries. If the new one is McKenna, I could see Welsh going and another CB coming in, possibly an older head. Daniel Amartey that seemed a lazy link to me, I could see that. Midfield or CB, experienced, BR knows him, available.

 

I seen on KdS they are talking about Tiago Gouveia, winger from Benfica. Alot seem to be doubting its source but does seem to make sense on paper.

That rumour is probably pish but I’d definitely be looking at signing him up.

Had a decent spell at Estoril last season and and Benfica brought him back to be part of the squad this season. Scored 5 goals and assisted 5 for Estoril last season in 30 games. Think he has 4 goals and 3 assists for Benfica this season. He’s only played like 800 minutes though, which is impressive.

He has a long term contract with them too. Until 2028. Signed a new deal last summer so not sure how to take that. At 22 years old, I’d expect they want to continue to play him in the squad next season. Would be a cracking signing though. Excellent dribbler.

 

The thing is from a distance it might sound like lazy scouting, another Benfica link. However we have fared very well with Benfica players, so sign him up!

 

I think it probably is a lazy link. Again, while I didn’t think we should pay the full fee for Bernardo, it was a good deal to have in place with Benfica. Benfica benefitted hugely from the Jota sale. They will look at any potential deal we have in place with Bernardo as a similar sort of deal, which is why they’re probably quite happy to reduce the initial fee, in the hope he does hit bigger heights with us and moves on for a big profit sometime in the future.

With Tiago, he’s actually been more involved with the Benfica first team than Jota and Bernardo. He had a far more successful loan from Benfica too, which means they do probably value him that little bit higher. Again though, if he comes in on a loan deal with an option to buy of slightly more, like £8m and he hits the heights of Jota, we will pay it.

One id be very interested in. We’ve benefited from Benfica and they’ve benefited from our deals so it’s a cracking relationship to have moving forward.

 

In an ideal world the like of Benfica should be our level. But sadly they financial clout and youth setup have given them light years on us. But for now i agree with you totally!
