No mate. I know my own team. Sunderland let him leave because he wanted to leave and this is big money for him. When are we going to get then again. I mean, in two years he'll be worth less surely due to age.

What's the fact the likes of Man U, Liverpool have never went in for him got to do with it? and yet again, I'll say, he wasn't playing regularly enough at Spurs for England. He still did well in terms of goals.

We didn't play to his strengths at all. You don't need to. He gets himself into the goalscoring positions and that, is that.

What does him not playing regularly for Spurs have to do with him not playing for England?

He scored 24 goals last season and still didn't make the World Cup squad.

He deserved to make the squad though that's for sure.

If you feature regularly as a starter, you're going to be taken more seriously by the England international manager. That is a cert.

did he not only get like 2 or 3 games to try and prove him self before the world cup and by that time capelo would have made up the squad he would have wanted

In all fairness I felt he should have been at the World Cup. Always good to laugh at England shooting themselves in the foot though, remember them taking an uncapped Theo Walcott to Germany instead of Jermaine Defoe - i loved that.

Nick I actually agree with most of what you are saying, just the price. Even if they stay up, he still isn't an £18M player. Between now and the end of the season he'll earn in the region of £2M in wages, meaning they have paid out £20M for him. That is a lot of money for a player of his ability.

If they signed Kris Boyd for £18M and he scored fifteen goals before the end of the season, and they stayed up, does that make him worth that much too. Anyone could hit a purple patch over that time, but that doesn't mean they are a world beater.

How do you know they would go down without him, in all honesty I'd bet my life on them staying up, Darren Bent or not.

I agree with some of that- inluding Villa would stay up Bent or no bent. Theyre not in a bad way really.

Though I just think that's the price they pay for a proven premier league goalscorer. You wouldn't pay that in Spain, or Germany, it's the way it is. Don't think many Villa fans have qualms over the fee

in todays transfer market he is worth the money look at bebe unproven and cost ten mill a think and has done nothing. english clubs over spend on players and get held to ransom because other countries and teams in england know how much money they have nothing new a mean is ronaldo really worth eighty million not a chance but its the market for players know. you might not think he should cost that much but in reality he does

Just because loads of teams do it doesn't make it right.

Ronaldo is a bad comparison because for a start he guarantees performances against any opposition in the world (except Barca), and scores goals for fun at any level (64 in 63 i think for Madrid). Ronaldo7 I would expect is one of the most sought after football shirts in the world too, meaning that Madrid are making a lot of the money back (Perez has always said that most of the galacticos actually end up making money for Madrid rather than costing them millions). How many people outside Sunderland or Birmingham are going to want a Darren Bent shirt? Not many.

The premier League has it's own economy. It's the way it is.
