I like Bitton a lot but i thought tonight he was our poorest player..

Gave the ball away a few times and backed out of many balls to be won..

Not a lot.of.pressure on him either with them so deep so no excuses for me, he's been far better lately and we've played worse as a team when he has and he's stood out..

For a central midfielder he definitely could be harder in the tackle, but overall I thought he had a decent game.

Was a mixed game, half really good, calm and controlled. Other half slack and few under/over hit passes, also slipped quite a lot(although a lot of players did, probably the artificial surface).

Needs to man up big time. He's evidently got talent but his cowardliness really holds him back in my opinion. * out of so many tackles today and he does it quite a lot.

    I thought he was excellent.

I've said before that I really like him, his coolness on the ball and sharpness of passing is very handy.

I disagree with him pulling out of challenges, a couple times aye but there was more than a few times where he was scrapping for the ball in the midfield and broke play up.

    Good player.

It's clear that he has the tools to be a fantastic midfielder but he definitely is a bit of a shitebag.

For a guy his height, he has to put himself about a bit more.

I accept that in that position folk expect a bit more bite but not every player will be a hard *.

I like him for what he is, cool, calm and keeps the play moving. Have him in there over Kayal all day long.

I am just going to accept right now, before we go any further, that he is going to be another one of those players that people are massively divided on, I think that is glaringly obvious. A Ki in that respect as well.

He doesn't have to be a hard *. There's a difference in being a hard * and being someone who doesn't * out of tackles.

That's the thing though, as much as I like him, he doesn't really do a lot. He keeps the game ticking with some nice passes but he doesn't score and isn't the greatest defensively.

When he's playing next to Brown, who also rarely scores, he needs to be doing more.

His job isn't to score goals though, so that is irrelevant for me. A goal now and again is fine but he's not a player who is in there to score.

Play him in a 3 man midfield and he is an even better player.

I'm sorry but the '* out of tackles' argument is being completely exaggerated here.

He is the Soggy Buiscuts of our team and he does it very well.

It isn't because he isn't that sort of player.

But domestically where we will dominate 75% of matches, playing Bitton and Brown together just lacks creativity from midfield. It has to be one or the other, alongside someone who gets forward a bit more.

Gets some unfair stick sometimes I feel. Plays the sitting role much better than Mulgrew can as he can actually deal with pressure on the ball.

Might not have the same passing range, but doesn't give the ball away anywhere near as much

I'm quite happy to have those 2 in there if we have a front 4 of say...

    Stokes Commons Johansen/Griffiths

    Guidetti/Griffiths/Scepovic

I think if it was up to him, Bitton would get forward alot more, ever thought perhaps Deila doesn't see him in that role though? For me he is a classy player and certainly more of a playmaker sort than defensive mid. Has the ability to be pushed forward but don't think RD will allow him to.

He actually does pop up in the box now and again, if you watch him, done it tonight on more than a couple occasions actually, was close to getting a header in during the first half.

Well he's always been a more defensive player. He is very classy and has an eye for the odd killer pass but I don't think he suits a more advanced role. He's just too gangly and slow.

Fair enough, I'm not saying he'd be brilliant but he has an eye for a pass and can get out of a tight situation with players around him.

As I said before though, quite clearly one of them who folk will never be 100% on. I like him though.

    * knows its better than having Mulgrew in there.

I like him as well, it's just sad that a player like him will probably never be able to flourish up here. Shows how backward we are.

You're right about the last part though, far better choice than Mulgrew.
