Just seen the highlights again and it still looks like CCVs man but it's hard to see him because he's shielded from the camera by Obileye. Bitton looks to be marking Nouble.

Take your point anyway, he often has good performances that are ruined by a costly mistake.

Nah, he wasn’t. CCV was man marking him.

Agree with this. Bitton can deputise here and there but he's never going to be first choice. Burned too many games with poor decision making.

To your point, this will all come down to whether Ange acknowledges McGregor isn't a 6.

I hope Ange is utterly ruthless in the summer and that he doesn't share the same delusion of Rodgers that he can make anyone a player.

I’ll need to watch it again then, but I’m sure it was him at the start and he let him go, needing CCV to cover for him.

He did that mate, our defending at set pieces just annoys the life out of me.

Just watched it again. I thought it was Nouble who got the shot, my bad troops.

It’s embarrassing how bad we defend them. Has been for a few years. The one just before half time was worse. The boy had a free header from 4 yards out. That goes in, which it should have, it’s a different game.

Aye, it’s a horrendous pattern. We genuinely don’t look like we have a plan for what we’re doing, sometimes zonal, sometimes man for man, sometimes a wee mix. Sometimes a man on the post sometimes not. Bizarre

It’s like watching an * team trying to defend them. We obviously will do work on them, but whoever is responsible for the set up needs questioned.

I agree with the above completely I would like us to sign a player who could add some physicality to the 6 but is also a sound footballer good at passing it out and building attacks.

I have said it before but if we could get Bazoer from Vitesse I would be keen to put him back in as a 6 where he first made his name for Ajax.

Others worth a look would be Hagen who was very good against us for Bodo/Glimt, Sivert Mannsverk from Molde all be it he is still very young at 19 but a real prospect with a big upside or Ante Palaversa on a loan to buy, as he was once thought of as Man City’s future Fernandinho replacement but is still only 21 and in his last year of his deal this summer.

All of them are 6 foot or over, are athletic with good engines, can see a pass, can tackle, and carry the ball from deep. They would also be good at dropping between the two centre backs and helping play out against a high press.

Is Bazoer not a complete *?

I don’t know, he may be which would go against what Ange says about character. He’s a very talented player as a ball playing centre back or CDM we wouldn’t get someone much better technically and I know that doesn’t give him reason to be an *.

It was rumoured we had discussions with him about a pre-contract.

Big man bossed them when he came on, showed his class carrying the ball up the pitch on multiple occasions which gave the team time to reorganize and stay calm
