Israeli, Jewish, and had to do mandatory service in the IDF. It's true, people won't give him credit and criticise him at the first opportunity for those reasons.

It's not much of the support at all, a tiny percentage of the stadium, but as usual, people online will say things they wouldn't in person. Some of the excessive flack he gets comes down to him being proud of being Israeli and having done his mandatory IDF service. There's numerous posts in this thread that show that.

    Bollocks.

I'm a harsh critic of him and it's got * all to do with where he's from. Genuinely couldn't care less.

More to do with the fact that he's a shitebag who rarely plays the way we know he can. He has the ability, but all too often not the mentality.

The people advising you on this aspect should be embarrassed for generalising overall opinions on Nir Biton as being anti Israeli. Without trying to sound too pedantic, they are microscoping the majority's comments on his lack of enthusiasm or giving his best ability as an excuse to reverse it to a an excuse as overall racism. Even though they could find only a handful of comments by even less people to back up their view that it's a majority's view. This is completely wrong. It's a forced perception.

Midfield ace Bitton was superb in defence when he replaced Sviatchenko after he got crocked in the first half in Norway.
Rodgers added: “That’s just what he is, and what we expect from him. Bitton’s a very good player.

“He’s a controlling player in the middle, but in that role we have Scott Brown and we have Eboue Kouassi, who is a big talent.

“But I like to have a midfielder who can play centre-half. That allows the team to play through and get more strikers on the field.

“Bitton is top class in his work. He’s very good for our squad, he can play a number of positions, he understands how I want to work. He’s someone the players like, and showed his importance against Rosenborg.”

Would suggest he is going nowhere.

    Interesting.

The period he had at the start of Ronny's reign I thought he was absolutely unbelievable.

Very much a whipping boy he's became. Glad to see Rodgers likes him.

Good to have another way of playing if we need to change things.

His demeanor on the pitch reminds me of Samaras - at times he comes across as if there's a lack of real energy.

He's not the type of defensive midfielder that totally fits what Rodgers is looking for but he's a bit unfortunate in this regard as he is definitely a good player. He can play the holding role pretty well, but is more of a calm and composed playmaker better suited to slower build-up than an engine who'll put himself about and chase every ball and look to get it forward quickly which is what Rodgers gets from Brown, Armstrong, McGregor, and by the looks of it Kouassi.

I think he's worth keeping around as he offers us the option of a deep-lying playmaker and can slow down and break up play (which he's often tasked to do off the bench), and by the looks of it can play centre back if need be.

I'd take him off free kicks though...

A few points I take from that:
    1. BR obviously rates Brown and Kouassi ahead of Bitton so he's 3rd choice for the DM role.
    2. Bitton will be staying but there is an understanding that he will only be a utility back up squad player.
    3. We won't be signing a new CB. Erik, Jozo and Boyata are the main 3 with Ajer, Bitton, Lustig, and KT able to deputise if there's an injury crisis, like at the moment.
    4. BR might be thinking of trying a few different formations, maybe trying 3 at the back and 2 up front on a more regular basis.
This might indicate that we'll make a move for an attacking player / striker. Hopefully as well as Paddy.

I think if we have any offers for him he'll be away.

He's a young guy who knows he isn't the type of player that the manager likes to play in his preferred position.

First of all nobody has ever claimed to attack him because he's Israeli, or Jewish- it's because he publicly supported the horrible ethnic cleansing of Gaza.

Secondly, he's a * shitebag. GMS for example, folk demanded we get rid of him- quite right too

    That was a common view.

The second half of Ronny's first season (14/15) and the beginning of Ronny's second season (15/16) he was very much our 'next big thing'.

    I thought we'd be selling him for 8-10m. :52:

No way is this guy a centre half, was Brendan half scooped against Lyon, ffs.

He did well through the week but we got away with that against probably the most sheepish forward line I've ever saw in Europe against us, he tries this against anyone with the resemblance of a forward line and we'll get roasted.

He is not and never will be a CB.
