Can’t beat the ol’ eye test

 

Nah it was a shorter one. He looks perfect for us in this..

Quick as you say and able to go by people with pace or a bit of trickery that we lack..

 

I’m actually feeling quite positive about kühn, looks fairly decent in the clips and comes from decent pedigree (Bayern/Ajax/RBL)

 

Very excited about this, think this boy is ideal and a position we badly need.

Excellent start if it goes through. Left back and a striker in now and I'll be satisfied with the window.

 

Rapid Vienna winger Kuhn set to be first arrival for Celtic in window

CELTIC are edging closer to a deal for Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn. The 24-year-old German is a leading target for Brendan Rodgers as he looks to bolster his attacking options for the second half of the season.

It’s understood the Parkhead club have opened formal discussions with Rapid, and are optimistic an agreement can be reached to make Kuhn their first January addition.

After spells as a youth player with RB Leipzig and Ajax, Kuhn joined Bayern Munich’s set-up before moving to Austria in 2022. Rapid paid around £500,000 for his signature and are thought to be looking for at least four times that amount to sell.

Kuhn has scored three goals and contributed seven assists this season.

While declining to name the clubs involved, Rapid sporting director Markus Katzer confirmed offers were now on the table.

‘Once we reach a certain amount, we have to think about it,’ he said.

Kuhn primarily operates on the right flank, cutting inside onto his left foot, but can also feature on the opposite wing or in a central role.

Celtic have made a striker their other leading priority for the January window, but have been warned off their pursuit of Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden.

The subject of interest from Parkhead last summer, Kvistgaarden has again been linked as Rodgers seeks more depth up front.

Brondby, however, insist they will not entertain offers for the Denmark Under-21 star while they remain in the hunt for the Danish Superliga title. The Copenhagen-based club sit just two points behind leaders Midtjylland after 17 games as they pursue only their second championship crown of the past 19 years.

Speaking to local media, director of football Carsten V. Jensen said: ‘We are in a strong financial position, where we must take advantage of the sporting success we achieved in the autumn. We have made a decision that we have entered a transfer window where we do not sell our best players.’

Kvistgaarden, 21, has played every league game for Brondby this season, scoring five times and providing seven assists. Under contract until 2027, he has been linked with a number of clubs — including German outfit Schalke.

Many top league appearances has he made as a professional. Seen conflicting stats on KDS.

 

Looks proper decent from that video. Fast, direct when he wants to be but capable technically as well. Also looks like he plays in the ten at times as well from that.

Kuhn looks good…hopefully the first of four incoming first team starters

 

Watched a few highlight vids (which can make anyone look good tbh), many are reserve team football at Ajax etc, as well as 1st team at Rapid.
1 describes him at 17 as future of Germany!!

He's clearly got a good first touch, pace and can take on players. That puts him way ahead of nearly all our wide players already.
Looks equally as exciting as frustrating to watch, often takes 3 or 4 touches when 1 or 2 might do.
Played at every level for Germany up to U20.

Stats are average at best, 3 goals this season (2 in same game).
7 goals and 10 assists from 37 games for Rapid overall, starting most of time when fit - the only team he's really played in first team for.
By comparison Mikey Johnston has 13 goals and 11 assist in 90 games in hoops, with not very many starts.
But all stats should be taken with pinch of salt, Kuhn team mates finishing is shocking!

Is Kuhn bit of sand dancer with limited end product?
Does he have the work ethic we expect? Or is he exactly what we need, direct, pacy, takes players on.
Is he the straight into first team 'quality' that BR demands?
Does suspiciously low £2M fee tell you anything?
Time will tell!

 

How he’s not got another 7 or 8 assists this season is beyond me.

He looks * class though

 

A proper right winger, seems the dream competing with Abada. Experienced enough to have a first team impact, young enough to still develop.
