Canucks need to pick up form to win the President's Trophy too. Flyers are, well...flying at the moment.

Just noticed this thread. Big hockey fan and played until my second year of College. Lived 3 minutes outside of the Bruins arena for a few years. Was great to go to all the games! I am by heart and since before I can remember a NY Rangers fan though. Hate to root for any team named Rangers being a Celtic supporter, but I just try to forget that my favorite team in hockey shares the same name as my most hated in football! Plus, being from the USA I was a hockey fan first (didn't get into football until bout 11 years ago, used to be literally impossible to watch it over here).

Anyway, playoffs have been pretty good so far. First round is always fun because you get to see who is for real and who just has a good regular season and really isn't a cup contender. Over all I think Vancouver will win the cup this year and finally return a Stanley Cup to Canada.

Great stuff man. I'm an Avs man, but the less said about that the better! Haha. Don't like the Bruins, because I hate Shawn Thornton! I've never particularly cared for the NY Rangers either, but they aren't synonymous with the R*****s for me.

I'm a hockey fan, but I don't know a great deal about it. My own limited view is that Vancouver should do it, if they can overcome an incredibly spirited Blackhawks team in this round (looks likely, thought that 7-2 loss must've hurt) and Luongo can at last prove himself in the playoffs. They've been hit with some big defensive injuries too, if I'm right in saying?

Personally, I'd love to see the Caps do it this year. It was a bold move to turn them into a two-way hockey team and dull the amazing offensive weapons in their arsenal in Ovechkin, Backstrom etc., but it worked in the regular season. I just hope to * that the Flyers don't do it. I think they're universally hated by everyone!

From the sounds of it, you know your hockey just fine. I agree with pretty much everything you said.

However, the I can't root for the Caps because they are going to knock out my team. So I am pulling for the Bruins or C'nucks. Any reason for hating Thorton so much?

And yes, everybody other than Fylers fans can agree on that! In fact everybody can agree on not wanting any Philadelphia sports to win anything...ever!

In the regular season, never had our top 6 together except in the last two games. But in the playoffs, they hopefully will all stay healthy (so far, so good), cause it's the best defence in the league

Thanks man. It's true though - I don't know a lot! Great to finally talk to someone about hockey though. No-one else I know likes it. Shocking, as it's my favourite sport to watch outside of football.

What the * has happened to Gaborik?? I will say this about the Rangers though - I love Lundqvist. Think he's awesome. Your time will maybe come next year if Brad Richards does (as is anticipated) join you.

On Thornton...I guess I just hate his face! Haha. He's just a pest, but I do respect what he brings to the Bruins, i.e. not bad at throwing knuckles!

GuitarBhoy: Ah, I see. Good to see them with a healthy defensive roster. I remember the Sedins being poorly rated on an NHL game years back. They've become rather handy! What do you think of Luongo's play so far? Outshined by Price and Neuvirth, I guess, in goalie terms in the Playoffs, but then as you said, he does play behind the best D in the league.

Gaborik got hit with injury and has not been the same player since. We will probably need to find one or two more consistent goal scorers to contend in the playoffs next year. Richards will help should he come, but we need some young talent as well.

Also, Bruins had a huge win last night. Probably saved their season. Chara has not been a factor thus far, but if he can become a force Boston will be pretty hard to beat.

Last thought for now: Vancouver better win game 6 or they will be in major trouble. That being said, I believe they will close it out in game 6.

Blackhawks and Canucks still battling. Going into overtime now. The Hawks haven't been too great tonight, but Crawford has had great saves.

So that's that. I genuinely hoped the Hawks would do it, just due to the simple fact that it would have capped off an amazing fightback. Plus, Corey Crawford was outstanding in the series, in my opinion. Luongo has to step up now if the Canucks are to go all the way, I feel.

Game 7 in the Bruins v Habs battle should be great too!

I am happy Boston made it through. I will be at a game or two against Deebo for sure!
