I understand that Rangers want to remember the second Ibrox Disaster on the 2nd of January and I also understand Liverpool want to remember Hillsborough. I fully respect that of course.

What I do not understand is why Liverpool does not remember the Heizel Drama as well. That happened at a Liverpool game and it cost the live of more than 39 people (32 of whom were Juventus supporters). It would be a nice gesture to include that as well.

EDIT: my mistake! I just noticed the Heizel Drama was remembered this year as it was exactly 25 years ago: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/25-years-heysel-remembered
I am sorry I was bringing this up, but it is a bit of sensitive subject in Brussels as it happened some miles from where I work and live...

    Let the people sing,

Brilliant point, I have thought the same thing a few times too.

(Anyone remember years ago Barcelona Ultras Boixos Nois mocked the deaths of Juventus supporters due to the Heysel Disaster & held up a banner saying 'Thanks Liverpool' ??:38::47: Was so glad when they got banned from the Camp Nou in 2003.)

It may be it is something to do with the date that the anniversary falls, and it was an at OF game that the disaster happened.

We have tried on numerous occasions but Juventus fans still blame us. In 2005 when we beat them at anfield we had a mosaic in italian which meant freindship but the italians turned there back and gestured towards the liverpool fans. In the second leg there was a lot of trouble as they threw flares into the away end.

I'm not really sure that Heysel is comparable to the other two disasters. Hooliganism was to blame for Heysel.

Even more reason to remember it as to distance yourself from the hooligans.

I know that Liverpool tried on several occassions (I have edited my post as well). I was not trying to blame anybody of course. The infrastructure in the Brussels stadium was not very good either.

I know you weren't blaming anyone mate. But liverpool football club has tried on numerous occasions to take responsibility for our part in the disaster. Juventus aren't interested which is there decision.

Heysel is a hard one ,As ScouserChris said Liverpool tried with a friendship request and were turned down by Juve ,what can you do about that really .

It was a riot that night and many died but because of the riot ,do people want to remember Heysel for that word alone ,all i can say is * Bless the people who died that night for supporting there team.

Considering were the away support our crowd is going to be the minority and so its less of a problem in terms of the amount of fans weve to take into consideration. The minutes silence during the St.Mirren game for world war rememberance was immaculate regardless of events prior or surrounding it.. I know its different in the sense it involves rangers but imo i Dont think we need to be worried

I have no worries about most our fans when it comes to tradegies like this.there is a small minority who are hit and miss.we used to travel on the ayr supporters bus but the songs they sung about the disaster sickened us from travelling with them.hope they aren't there

it should be respected and we should be silent.... i know i will be...

i just can't say the same about others.. 7 and a half thousand of us, and i'm sure i seen on the gb website a guy saying he will be disappointed if we arent singign and giving it laldy, i'd have to have another look to see i if it was that he was referring to.

only takes 10 people to produce a silence breaking noise. So for that reason im no sure it will stay silent

but lets hope it does. we dont need that kind of attention again.

Our fans never disrupt a silence. When Falkirk played Celtic last year, a few fans were shouting from outside the ground but the Celts inside it were silent. Then the OF last year (I think it was last year) at Ibrox a hun shouted something (don't know what he shouted) and that's where it kicked off.

I'm sure our fans will be no different in January unless some silly hun * tries to wind us up but I wouldn't think so.

As for the game itself, 2-1 Rangers. Does anyone actually think we can win this game if they have a good think. The defence is * and * knows if the keeper will be gone.

To be honest, regardless of religion, sport or anything, it's a complete lottery getting 50,000 people all to stay quiet at the same time. If the silence is broken it will say * all about sectarianism or football rivalry, it will just be an indicator of how many * up nutters happen to be in the crowd.

IF the silence is broken, the scum that make the noise should be banned for life
