Given was punted by Dalglish, who later admitted it was a big mistake. Given did not ask for a transfer.

I think you are right.. It was Pre Tommy Burns that Shay Given was punted when he was about 19.. Pretty sure the story at the time was that he was deemed too small which I always thought was the case even when he made it as a keeper in the premiership..

It was only when Bobby Robson was shaying Given stands at over 6 foot that I thought "Nah you'r having a laugh Bobby" because he was deemed too small for Celtic , but sure enough he is 6 foot 1 tall..

Sorry mate, it was Macari who sold him, and Dalglish tried to re-sign him.

I can't see what difference he'll make coaching wise. He isn't a coach.
Is he going to be the teams motivational speaker, maybe he'll tell them about overcoming depression. Gie's peace.
The team needs a shake up in the starting players, more than a character in the dressing room can bring.

He was coached for how many years as a pro footballer, I think he could do a training session. TB could be training him up with his UEFA Badges which wouldnt be a bad thing

Probably a good idea for motivation and dressing room spirit despite the fact he has no proven coaching skills. Can't help but be a bit cynical about the timing though.
