Throwing the armband is immature for a 35 year old. But he and Sno had good games. He was taken off because WGS wanted to freshen up and add a wee bit of creativity in the last 10 minutes to see if we could nick one.

think lenny is great and thought he played well last night... but i think his brain is writing cheques his legs cant cash anymore... we should use lenny sparingly now so that we get the most out of him in the remaining big games. his legs had gone and its good that strachs has the courage to take off the club captain when heez playing well. strachs knoo graveson was a better asttacking option as we went for a goal in the last 10mins.

WGS should have had Tommy G on from the start..
Miller was a disaster waiting to happen again...and his confidence is rock bottom..
Bringing Graveson on 10 minutes from the end was too little, too late...:87:
    And Jarosik was totally ineffective..:54:
I reckon Miller, Jarosik and Magic will get sold in the summer..

Maybe Sno should job share with Lenny for the next few months. That said Lenny must play in the CL final. We will need his experience.

I would play five in Milan.
Naka, Gravesen, Sno, Lenny and Mc Geady to contain them and hopefully the big man up front can * one.

I'm sure loads of you will disagree with this, but I thought Lennon was awful on Tuesday night. Thought Sno out-classed. Maybe not out-classed, but performed better. And before anyone asks, I was there on Tuesday night so I saw the whole game, not just sections of the game on the TV.

His tantrum he had in the first half was out of order, and he rightly got shouted at by the fans for it. In the second half as well he only walked back when Milan were on the attack. And to top it off, throwing the arm band away was out of order. That's twice that has happened and I think someone should have a word with him.

I think he's been playing rubbish for the last few month. Maybe he needs a rest for a couple of games, I dont know, but he needs to get back to playing the way Lennon can.

Agree about Jarosik. Once WGS shifted him to the left and McGeady up front, we had no options out wide. WGS finally changed it though and put McGeady back to the left and JJ up front.

It's all about opinions bud, but personally I thought that along with Boruc, Lennon was our best player on tuesday night. He covered a lot of ground, kept it simple and protected a very inexperienced backline extremely well.

He served a short ban recently, so he's had a rest if he needed one.

I did think Boruc did well. Mick and O'Dea were good, Wilson was OK but Naylor was a bit disappointing at times. He could've done better.

The 2 centre halves played well, and the reason for that was the excellent protection given by Lennon and Sno.

That was WGS' plan, because of the strength of Milan's central midfield.

I wouldn't go as far as sayin "excellent", greendave. Milan kept getting through the midfield and threw the defence a good few times. The main thing about the game though is that we didnt concede a goal. They'll be more scared of losin a goal over there than they will of anything else.

When you've got a 35 year old veteran alongside a 19 year old rookie, then pitch them in against Ambrosini, Pirlo and Kaka, ask them to protect a back 4 with hardly any european experience, and they manage to hold their own and contribute to a clean sheet.....

    I call it excellent.

The team had a defensive look to it with Lennon and Sno in the centre but we didn't let in a goal so that say that they did their job well against very good opposition. (Who have won 6 European cups remember)

Our problem was our attacking players: Naka was nonexistant, McGeady was found out a bit and will need to realise that you can't beat top quality players just with dribbling, Kenny was Kenny, Wilson's crossing was poor, Naylor didn't cross enough and our only player that could do the damage (barring Naka's freekicks) was JVoH, who was half injured.

Lennon did what he's done for us for 7(?) years now, he broke up play and offered a platform for the creative players to perform. They didn't. If Graveson had been playing then he would have charged about and all the fans would have cheered because he is noticeable on the field with what he does. Although they wouldn't notice the gaping holes left by him exposing a very inexperience back four.

I thought Lenny was superb on the night. Looked like he could get a game in seria A playing that role. :50: But must admit I was taken aback by his performance cause he has not played like that for a while now. Think the club doctor must have slipped something in with Lenny's worming powders before the match. :56:

    Drop Lennon

I would drop Neil Lennon for the vital Cup
tie against Caley on Sunday, and the return Champion's League game in the San Siro, ....as I believe Lennon is now a liability to the team, way
off the pace, and totally negative and one dimensional
    in his approach.

Secondly his disrespect to the Club and Celtic Support,
by continually throwing down his Captain's
armband in anger on the pitch, when subbed
or things go against him, is the mark of a player
who has no more to offer Celtic IMO.

The late and great Jock Stein would never
have tolerated such insurbodination and petulance, and I would
replace him now for the rest of the season with Sno,
who is a much better and fitter player, and re-instate
Tommy Graveson to the midfield with Hartley, that
will give us much more mobility and purpose in the centre of
    the field.
I would now make Steven Pressley captain :50:

Totally agree apart from the bit about Pressley for captain.

But watch out! These sort of threads are considered blasphemous on this site!
