Do you not think that was due to coaching on the training field though?

He looked raw as * when he arrived, not exactly Balde levels of ball control but not far off it.

He very quickly learned to do what he was good at and move it on to someone who does the forward movement better.

Lennon knew to have ball players and ball winners. Now we have a rag tag bunch who are being asked to do things well out of their comfort zone.

    Don't forget Rogic.

Our quality of players signed the last couple of years has dramatically dropped. We really could be doing with a new scouting system.

Didn't include Tierney either in there because he wasn't a signing, technically.

It could be. Like I said though, I think him and Van Dijk just had it. They were always a cut above the rest.

Lennon obviously didn't hinder them at all but I don't think he made them what they are, if you get me.

What is for sure is we could be doing with a Wanyama type right now. And Virgil.:54:

Deila would probably have Wanyama on the left wing though. :smiley-laughing002:

What is any of that based on though? Where is the evidence that Lennon didn't sign these guys?

Deila has confirmed that he signed every player he brought in, so why wouldn't Lennon have been doing the same?

You could probably argue even though Lenny signed Rogic and Griffiths, it was Ronny who got the absolute best out of them. :bbpd: Bitton and Johansen too.

Rogic was injured almost the whole time Lenny was here. Griffiths was banging them in for Lenny.

Bitton agreed, Johansen are you kidding me?

That's not what I'm saying in that post though he's replied to.

He may well have had the final say, probably did. What I'm meaning is that some act as though he went out and hand picked these guys, scouted them himself and said aye I want him.

It's not the case. My point isn't trying to belittle Lennon or brag about Deila. In fact it's not really about either.

What I'm trying to get at is that our scouting department has been slacking recently, big time and we haven't brought this same kind of potential/class of player in.

Whether that's bad luck or whatever, I don't know. Both Deila and Lennon have proven they can develop players, that isn't up for debate.

A big difference for me, assuming both had the final say, is the talent to pick the right players.

Ronny Deila has an embarrassing amount of midfielders to the detriment of the rest of the team.

I would argue that the scouting department are the exact same one that identified an abundance of quality players under Lennon. We can speculate that they've stopped doing so, or we can look at the one component that has changed, the manager, and draw the conclusion that this change has been the significant one in our recent * transfer record. For me that's the logical approach to take.

Ronny also played Tierney too. Therefore, all aboard the bus, ma man ! :frilly:

Don't forget the fact Tierney was 13 when Lenny had him. It's magic Ronny. You tell em :50:

The amount of midfielders brought in I can't explain, don't think anyone really can. Greed to be honest and not needed.

It might be a talent to pick the right players but if we know the scouting system as we think we do, then the manager hasn't been handed the same sort of players by Park and co for the past couple year.

    This is it for me.

Ronny has been working off the exact same database and pool of players that Lenny had to work from but has royally * it up.

    They are the same aye.

However what has Deila said to them for things to change? If it's the same as when Lennon was here, then they are surely still going about the same way and scouting players for Deila to be given reports on. I'd argue he doesn't have a massive say in where they go in Europe, I'd imagine there will be set guys for each area.

One guy who I'd say he probably did tell them to go and watch is Ajer, who we will still need to wait and see.

If Ronny was here earlier, do you think we would have left out the likes of Robertson, Russel, May, Gauld etc ?
I think he would have snatched them up.

We let the good Utd players go, and bought the worst two. Sorry, worst three :smiley-laughing002:

True that. I think he was trying to teach the lad some defensive responsibility though.

I'm sounding like a Lennon fanboy now. :smiley-laughing002:

    I do believe that though.
