You not at all concerned, that in the space of a few days, Lenny has went from 2-3 areas need strengthening to being happy with what we have..

 

I’m concerned Negative Nancy there is going to top himself or worse cause the rest of us to do so.

Being happy with what you have doesn't mean there won't be new signings. He has seen the team play well over the last 4 games and is acknowledging we have a decent team. He also said we have strengthened in the area we need to strengthen but he hasn't said that it, complete, done. He is just saying exactly what it is. We have strengthened in cb area with Julien. As things stand we have a back up lb. We have a rb that's replaced a very good but aged lustig. I think as a whole we are happy with our team. We do need more signings granted but am not unhappy.

A return of Griffiths (like a new signing)
Christie for the whole season
Shved has come in
Mikey johnstone is coming of age (like a new signing)
Bayo might feature yet
A backup option on Tierney
A £7M cb in julien
A new rb (hopefully be as good if not better than stig)

As things stand that is 7 players ready to make a contribution this season that either didn't see the whole season last year or hadnt even been signed yet. I think we have strengthened. I think we still need another 2-3 players but certainly nothing wrong with what Lennon has pointed out here.

 

Everybody's like a new signing, I suppose. Why do we ever even make signings? Our income should be at least quadruple our outgoing every year. And we NEED to SLASH the wage budget. Every year.

We haven't replaced Lustig with a natural RB..
Remains to be seen with Hatem, but the fact he has consistently played CB the last few years and we plan to shoehorn him in at RB, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence .

 

From what I read mate he is a natural right back that has been shoehorned into a cb in recent years. Plus Lennon did mention he wanted a second rb anyway. Hopefully that comes too

 

Clearly, his best years and form have come at CB at Beer Sheva..
Yep, I've read multiple times that Lennon wants a second RB. However, his comments today that we've strengthened were needed, would fly in the face of that. We still need to replace Lustig with a quality natural RB.

 

Am of the opinion it's only fair to judge the lad once we see him play in that position. Sutton first position wasn't cb but he played brilliantly in that role. It can happen

 

The problem is these days a manager gets asked every day 5/6 times about whats happening with new signings and what not. It must get on his * too. So i guess it probably even a game they play with media. And media make their own spin on it.

But some * on here are immediately in hysterics from every word that is written. There is way too much information in media, whilst NL probably cant and wont be really to the point on whats going on.

I give the negative brigade the RB situation though. That seriously gets on my nerves too. We have one in, that isnt a proven qty in last few seasons as a RB. So its a tricky one that leaves me certainly not convinced yet.

 

I totally agree. But it leaves me pretty critical till then. As we certainly need a proven qty as well as a RB. For the rest i am pretty okay with our dealings till now. Just RB

If you think that this squad is strong enough and has enough quality in it for a 60 games season then you have some serious green tinted specs on!

3 right backs left and 1 centre back come right back in as their replacement.

3 centre backs for a full season where 1 in Jozo is injury prone and can’t play on plastic pitches.

1 left back who most of our support have written off already and another who is 60/40 as to wether he will even stay.

Mid to front we are fine for some but I still see issues;

The back 4 as the season goes on will be susceptible to injuries and suspension.

Ralston couldn’t pass * in drug test let alone a football.

Hendry is scared of his own reflection.

Less said about Calvin miller the better.

But you keep going on assuming things will be fine. 24 hours before the league starts no natural right back and a centre mid covering at centre back!

12 players out of that 6 regularly contributed last season to cover that 6 we have brought in 3.

Lennon needs to grow a set and DEMAND we get business done every other mother * team in Europe can get business done in days we take weeks.

Harsh on some points. Eddy is fine, and Griffiths is back, as deadly as he has ever been. Ntcham might or might not be off, but there are signs that Lenny has rinsed his ears well. IMO, Ralston is OK for SPL games.

 

A lot of what you say is true but last week he stated we where "nowhere near" finished with signings, yet his comments in that interview seem far more tentative.

I don't blame Lennon for not getting players in, it's as clear as day that he wants them but I hope he isn't trying to downplay the situation to cover for the board's frugality. We should be much further along with transfers than where we are in my opinion.

In order to give ourselves the best opportunity to qualify for the Champions League, we need some quality players in and getting ready. Cluj are going to test us and if we get beyond them the play-off round is going to be very difficult, there are some very decent unseeded sides in there. We're rolling the dice again and hoping we can get by with what we have.

Our movements in the market shouldn't be contingent on Tierney moving to Arsenal, if he does go for a record transfer fee then watch the price we are quoted for every player go up.
