Of the names you mentioned, yeah they are still here but none of them should be starters for us if everyone is fit.

Forrest was * during Lennon's time in charge as well. The last couple of seasons under Lenny he did * all. Deila actually did a better job at resting Forrest and allowing him to get fully fit than Lennon did, he always rushed him back and that's why Forrest couldn't string 3 games together.

Careful there are many here who might try to take you up on that.

Lustig and Mulgrew are first team starters though. In Mulgrew's case, deservedly so. Commons has been wasted, criminally under Ronny. Didn't know how to manage him, but it doesn't make him a bad player. Maybe if he did play him, things could have turned out different. Who knows.

Point I'm making anyway is, Lenny's transfers, as a whole were fantastic. Ronny's were utter *.

Ronny might have rested Forrest better, probably rested him too much, like commons. But I said Lenny had Forrest playing his best stuff, which is just a fact. Not remember Tottenham weighing up the 9 million bid for him ? :smiley-laughing002:
He was also on some FIFA shortlist of young players to look out for.

    :bbpd:

Bangura, Boerrigter, Lassad, Murphy, Juarez, Mouyokolo, Gershon, Fridjonsson.

Some level of revisionism going on here. Lennon signed a power of numpties, as did Deila, as did Strachan.

Such is the nature of lower budgets.

Every club in the world makes bad signings, regardless of their budget.

    Wow.

You really don't see the difference in Lennon's good signings and everyone elses?

Sure Lennon signed numpties, who doesn't?

The thing that sets him apart is the likes of Forster, Wanyama, Hooper, Van Dijk, Matthews. Even Ledley to an extent would have went for multi millions had we not let his contract run down.

Deila and even Strachan can't make a claim like that.

Interesting that you took that as the example of Lenny's signings. I'd be more inclined to put it Van Dijk, Forster, Wanyama, Hooper, Griffiths, Ledley and co.

I think at the end up, being that he brought in a lot more cash in player sales than he spent overall, I think that points towards it being good.

Regardless of any spin folk want to put on it, the reality is Lennon's transfer record here was exemplary. Of course he made bad signings, every manager does. It doesn't change the fact that over the course of 4 years, he was fantastic in the transfer market.

I actually find it incredible how much stick Hammer gives Lenny considering how long he backed Ronny. Right to the * death he clung on for dear life to the back of the Deila Bus. Yet when it comes to Lenny he hardly has a good word for the man.

    Strange.

It's actually mental to question how well he did in the transfer market :smiley-laughing002:

It was probably our strongest feature while he was here. Our ability to find hidden gems and turn them into CL calibre players (and sell them on for good money) was as good as it's ever been.

    What's interesting about it?

He signed duds, there are the examples. What's the issue?

In the last couple of days you have called him embarrassing and trying to come back with his tail between his legs. That's just the posts I've seen.

I find that highly disrespectful to a man who literally put his life on the line to play for and manage this football club.

My opinion is that you are full of *.

    Edit.

Regarding Lenny that is, I think you are brand new apart from this.

Not taking sides here but how many of those players did Lennon actually sign?

By that I mean that we all kind of know(or at least think we know) how transfers work at CP. Park and co go out and scout about then a report is back for the manager to consider.

Is it more a case of Lennon having a greater share of 'luck' as such in his 4 years here in comparison to Deila's 2? The first of which he made mainly loan signings for whatever reason, whether that was his own choice. I doubt that seeing as I recall one of his statements being that he "didn't like loans".

I'm not belittling Lennon or anything here before anyone starts, I'm just trying to mix it up a bit. I personally feel the manager doesn't have as big a say as we might think. He might have the final say but there could be various factors affecting his decision. Such as Park and Lawell poking him in the back saying "Aye sign him Ronny he's well good....and ehh...cheap".

No doubting that in the past couple of windows our scouts have either been unlucky or have been seriously pished at the games watching different players.
