What is it with Northern Irish Celtic managers pulling Neil Lennon to the Celtic support?

    That’s twice now

Didn’t realise he had 21 trophies as a player and manager combined. Saw the stat on sky the other day; that’s unreal

His influence for us over 20 years is overshadowed a lot with just how much anger the support has about the 10 season. He was always one of my favourite players and managers, and it’s tainted my admiration for him for what he brought us more so his reaction and refusal to take any responsibility for that shitshow of a year not just during it - long after it. That angered me.

But the further away I get from it, the more level headed I remember what he done for us. Even taking his playing career aside, his contribution to domestic trophies aside as well (which should never be ignored btw, people arrogantly talk down what he’s done with that) but for me, the absolute biggest thing that’s overlooked and I don’t know why is how he competed in European competitions. Even in his last stint, in a season that’s ignored a lot due to the one after - home and away wins against Lazio, how he set up and got results and made us a danger and solid. His signings to elevate us in Europe, and if I had to point out the one example alone you just need to look at Fraser Forster.

The football that year was up there with Ange’s when we moved to the 352. He has his faults, I’ve got lingering resentment, but in one of the most golden periods in our history he was a massive part in all of it. Maybe the biggest most impressive thing we seen was him coming in as a coach under WGS, after Tommy was sadly gone, an irreplaceable man and when he came in, we seen a tremendous upturn in mentality (not down to him alone, Robson and Hartley coming in etc) we won 8 games, and won the league on Tommy Burns Thursday for 3 in a row at Tannadice. Because how seamlessly he came in and had an impact in a coaching stuff that had a massive irreplaceable devastating loss, it’s forgot about too much that he added something there that we thought was impossible. Not a replacement in the slightest, but came in and made a difference, and honoured him. If he acknowledged his role in the disaster of the Covid season, and didn’t keep shifting the blame, held his hands up even now this far removed from it happening - all would be forgiven for me

You’re so right. I didn’t get chance to go yesterday but watched every second of Sky’s full coverage and you can see the passion Lenny still has for the club even after everything he went through in that last season.
I now look back on it and can understand why we lost that. Yes he made some terrible decisions and the board were sat on their thumbs whilst we could all see it was going nowhere.
Maybe if we won 10 in a row we never get ange?
Maybe if we won 10 in a row Rodgers never looks at us as a whole and thinks there’s unfinished business?

I don’t believe in ‘everything happens for a reason’, but I sure know that what’s followed the 9 in a row is something I’d never change.

The main culprits for blowing 10 were the board for bringing him back in the first place.

Tbh I'd probably take blowing the 10 again if it meant another 9 years of total dominance

    Good for him.

Wonder if he wants a loan of Mikey Johnston?

Good luck Neil. You talk some * at times but you are a Celtic legend. Kind of like me without being a Celtic legend part.

Will see him in a couple years when he's back for his 3rd stint :fear:

Hope he smashes it so he keep his job for many years to come :56:

Brave move for Lenny. Will be very different to anything he has experienced before in football I would think. Hopefully it goes well for him.
