After his first 2 games in charge I got a bit excited I feel and was quite happy for him to be given the job.

Since...I'm not as sure. I'm not completely against it as I haven't yet seen anyone give me a realistic alternative. I think shouts of Benitez are hilariously far fetched.

The next 2 season's are our biggest in years and I don't think the board are willing to take a risk once more.

I've said before but Rodgers will be very hard to replace in more ways than one. He was a quality manager for us despite the way he parted, supposedly had that connection to the club (only he truly knows now the answer to that!) And had experience with a big club. He was the boards wet dream.

I don't believe they will sanction 40-60k a week for a manager from Germany, Italy etc. I just cannot see it.

Lennon is without doubt a step down. Hes one of those managers however that may just suit one particular club and that may be us. But do I feel we could get in better? Yes. He is quite old school in his approach and while that may be refreshing in some ways - in others it could definitely lead to us going backwards.

I'm really willing to sit on the fence for now to be honest and wait until the summer. If some interesting names are realistically muted then I could sway. Right now if you're telling me it's David Moyes then I'm out.

Its the second half displays that are doing my head in . The contrast from first half to second half is baffling i dont know whats said at half time but its not working . Love Lenny always will but if he cant get them motivated then he isnt the man for the job im affraid . He has said a couple of times now that we play to slow thats down to him to change that . He has to put his stamp on this team before its to late for him . If he cant we must be looking at Benitez who is out of contract at the end of the season

Biggest load of * I’ve read in this thread.

MON, Strachan and Rodgers make him at least the 4th best in your lifetime.

What do you mean “a system he hasn’t picked”? He’s the manager ffs. He picks the team and the system every game.

Yesterday he started with 3 CB’s, 4 CM’s, one winger and one striker. Mental. He decided to drop Weah after a MOTM performance the other night. Bringing on Hayes yesterday to just whip in cross after cross despite having nobody in attack who thrives on that style of play.

He decided to bring on Rogic against the Huns when he was clearly unfit and was like playing with a man down.

There’s a few of the strange decisions that he has made. Not Rodgers.

Edit: Yes he has increased the gap, however that’s not solely down to us. Rodgers had won every game domestically since the winter break. Lennon has had two draws since taking over. Rangers have just been woeful in that period which has meant the draws haven’t hurt us at all.

Same, whats Benitez being paid as well? He's probably on £100k a week, no chance would we even pay half that.

Foreign managers are always a gamble as well, they don't know the League, don't know the types of players we are usually looking for and things like that.

Rose the Salzburg manager has had less than 2 seasons of experience and only lived in Germany and Austria before, you could also say he's managed the best team in the CL qualifiers both seasons and never qualified. Salzburg also seem to work within some sort of Red Bull committee who sign certain players for Salzburg who they plan on selling to Leipzig later and have a wide scouting network owning club in 4 different countries all working together so he probably has little say in transfers.

Although Lennon may not be ideal, theres nobody you can really think of who is. Someone like the Bournemouth or Wolves managers would be ideal but there is no chance. If it's a foreign guy it'll need to be a gamble on an upcoming guy nobody is sure of yet and if its someone from the UK it'll need to be someone who has failed and is unwanted in England.

When I hear or Marco Rose I shudder and think back to Paul le Guen. Unfair I know but it would be a gamble. We need massive changes this summer but do we need to take that big a risk when they're sitting with their very own John Barnes at the helm.
Always loved Europe but this 10inar has really muddled things for me . Glasgow Celtic should be competing in Europe but for me CL group is an achievement for us.

The bit that was in bold is speculating..

We don't know whether he's getting it or no..

I'm trying to find answers as to why we're so poor. Why our subs are so poor. Why we look so disjointed. Why tactically we haven't been at it..

If we had an answer like he wasn't getting it for example? It would actually explain it. If there isn't and this is what we've got to come? * help us..

I would like to think that the board is more knowledgeable about world football than we are though, and that it will leave no stone unturned in its search for the best manager available to us.

If the search began and ended a short drive down the M8, with a former Celtic manager in charge of a floundering Hibernian side, then the board is not fit for purpose.

Rodgers took a similar approach to finding cover at left-back: who would have thought that there were better options available to us than Izaguirre?

I think it’s way off the mark to say he’s beyond reproach. Case in point - this very thread.

The reality is he’s stepped in at short notice at a crucial stage in the season. Performances haven’t been stellar but he remains undefeated, having navigated probably our trickiest set of domestic fixtures this season, and remains in course for a treble, having extended our lead at the top of the table.

And he’s still getting a decent amount of stick on here.

We was paying Rodgers well over 50k a week. Lawell takes home that as his bonus. We can clearly afford him.

Many people in this thread have bent over backwards to excuse him, even when criticism has been warranted.

I would be unconcerned with our performances if Lennon were just an interim manager, but he is set to become Celtic managaer on a permanent basis, just months after leaving Hibernian in ignominious circumstances.

Forgive me if I believe that a manager in that situation should have to do more than grind out results with a dominant Celtic side in order to retain the Celtic job.

Let's be honest the league is in the bag and if Lennon wins the cup and completes the treble the snake started then the job is his. If Aberdeen put us out then the board will probably hire David Moyes or Roy Keane. Funny I wouldn't be totally against Moyes but Keane would be disastrous.
