Do you think he was a better player than Ferguson? (Different players, obviously.)

Majority of brilliant footballers are exciting to watch but it doesn't make it the rule. Their have been and always will be some brilliant footballers who do their jobs very well but don't excite. Lennon was exactly that. Lennon would always keep the ball moving, granted most of his passes where going back or side ways but the ball never stopped moving. He always made himself available for the pass, which in itself is overlooked quality sometimes. His positional sense was clever and whilst he was far from agile he would always put a shift in.

Again, quite a boring footballer to watch but do not underestimate the impact he had on the team O'Neil built and to a lesser degree the team Strachan built.

Also let's not get this twisted, outside the Lisbon lions, Lennon as a player was a major stay for what could and probably would be viewed as some of the best Celtic teams we have ever seen. He didn't get to do that by fluke, he got that because he was a very good footballer, albeit not the most exciting to watch

Being objective I think Ferguson had more strings to his bow, so to speak. Better range of passing, scored more goals, a bit more athletic perhaps. Ferguson is touted by many as their best midfielder in decades.

But Lennon regularly nullified him to be ineffective, as he did Gerrard, Kaka and Ronaldinho. That doesn't happen by coincidence.

Lennon's reading of the game was superb, second-to-none in the MoN team. He sniffed out danger, stuck to dangerous opponents doggedly - never allowing them a free run at our back 3, always made an angle to receive a pass for a team-mate being pressed.

He was aware of his limitations and didn't try to do things he wasn't capable of eg. Going on mazys and banging in 40 yarders; he didn't need to when he could move it on to Lubo, Petrov, Thompson, Larsson, Agathe etc.

But he also knew his strengths and used those superbly to be an integral part of our best team since the Lisbon Lions.

Let’s not be rewriting history just because we’re frustrated Bhoys.

    Lennon was a fine player.

One thing I always recall was how slow he was. He was probably the slowest player to ever play for us. Even in his prime he was so slow.

I never really rated him when he was here and I thought Lambo was miles better as a defensive midfielder.

Still though, he was a great servant for this club as a player. But I never rated him as manager and I definitely do not now.

He was a great player, had some great moments in Europe in his managerial stint with us. But somewhere after that, Lawwell ripped the spine out of him. Now, he doesn't think with his head, and refuses to see reality.

He was a good player - very consistent. Did the basics well.

One thing I would say though, is that it was often the opposition attacking midfielder who would cause is the most problems in Europe in the MON side. Riquelme, Ronalidinho, Kaka, Deco all had really strong performances against us from my memory. Ideally you want your DM to prevent that.

I can’t hold that against him though. If those guys turn up, unless your an absolutely world class level defensive mid, you’re going to be in for a long night. Even being a world class level DM might not be enough in some cases.

Overall he was undoubtedly a good player. I preferred Lambert but they complimented each other quite well in a 5 man midfield.

Tbh at this stage I'm hoping its less than or more than 6 games. If it's 6 games then that means the huns win the league at CP

I actually keep laughing to myself today about someone bringing up his goal tally when judging him as a player and saying 2 in 300+ games as a defensive mid says it all.

Makélélé had 5 in 400+ with Madrid, Chelsea and PSG, probably the best to do the job.

    * class in here sometimes.

Noises that some fans protested outside Lennoxtown today. Had a "Lennon Out" banner. A verbal exchange between Lennon and the fans occurred.

He's got no self respect, no dignity and he's certainly not a man of his word, imagine knowing you're hated by 99.9% of supporters but still refusing to do the right thing, arrogance beyond belief, he's got some nerve to continue with this farce.

He's went from legend to laughing stock, a total embarrassment.

No ambiguity or blurred lines. Its a measured approach/banner due to the current pandemic we're in. Lennon and the board will know 100% of the changes the majority of the fans want.

This banner would never have happened if Lennon was a man of his word, showing his true love for Celtic and had walked or the board had actually were functioning properly and didn't hold us in contempt.

The reality is dawning that the scum can win the title at Celtic Park and not yet communicated anything resembling a plan for the club whatsoever. This is on the board now. Their silence can no longer be accepted.
