He didn't want to be here. He had made it crystal clear that he wanted a decent level English side to come in and offer him a job.

Any actual evidence of this? Answers to questions from the MSM about the quality of football in England and managing in England formulated to give this impression is not for me evidence.

It certainly isn't easy, but like Zander said we have the makings of a good squad. It all depends on the formation Rodgers wants to go with. We only really need 3 or 4 players and we should be more than good enough to qualify for the CL.

That's what I'm saying, Deila failed as a manager here but the squad he has built isn't that bad and with a better.manager (Brendan), we could see a real improvement without changing THAT much. He has a big job but the rebuild isn't near the same level as what we seen after Mowbray

Testament to Lennon that actually. He built a good squad pretty quickly, albeit they didn't hit the ground running

Deila hasn't left us in anywhere near the same state as Mowbray did. It's not even close in my opinion.

The Karagandy game was great at the time, but it didn't do us any favours in the long run I don't think. It papered over the cracks, and the results against Legia and Maribor which followed a year later would have come sooner, had we not drawn the poorest team possible in Karagandy. The Karagandy game should have been a wake up call to the board, that we simply weren't good enough, however, by qualifying for the Champions League, the board were content with the team we had, and then we refused to strengthen the following season. I would say that had we drawn Maribor the season prior, they would have put us out, and the questions that were asked following the defeat to them, would have been getting asked a year earlier.

I agree mate, just pointing out that it may not be right away under BR as well, it isn't as massive a rebuild as Lenny's but we are at rock bottom on the European stage just now as well.

I think we do have the building blocks of a good team though.

Spot on. The board took that years qualification as evidence they could operate at a transfer surplus and still get CL money. In hindsight that victory was actually the worst result of that European campaign.

Aye I'm not expecting immediate success. It'll take time, naturally

I'd rather he went to China than go to Hibs. Loads of money there and a more relaxed football environment.

The Hibs job is a poisoned chalice

The Chinese league is a joke he'd be better at Hibs, Steve Kean has won trophies in Asia doesn't make him a great manager

Steve Kean has won trophies in Brunei, can't compare that to China.

There's some big managers and big players plying their trade in China these days (Lippi, Scolari, Eriksson etc.), the league is getting stronger and stronger, the average attendances are high as well.

Don't think he'd fancy going back to Scotland, all things considered, unless it was to come back to Parkhead.Unless he's said otherwise,I dunno. He'd probably get them (Hibs) promoted though.

Neil Lennon and China are so far apart culturally it's difficult to comprehend

In talks with Hibs, a good move for both parties.

Lennon done alright with us, one magic season but the rest were pretty sub standard. Hibs will provide him with an opportunity to really prove himself, it speaks volumes that the majority of our support were dreading his appointment with us.

He's a decent manager, recruits well but his style of football is not exactly enthralling or remotely excitable.

Hooper and Stokes were playing very very attractive football under Lennon.

    Hope he gets the job.
Can happily sign up stokes and even take a couple fringe players on loan from us to boost his squad. Hopefully he is able to keep a few key players as well and maybe even add one or 3.

He will get them up no problem, get a cup run and perform well next season again and he can look to build up his career. Still very young in the manager life

    Hooper and Stokes yes.

The minute they left though, the philosophy was get the ball to Commons in space and let him shoot, I'm 20 so I know I've had the best of it in the seasons since i've been born, however that last season under Lennon was by far the most unenjoybale - completely depressing tactics and football, drought from any personality.

That's funny, I never spoke to a single Celtic fan who was "dreading" Neil Lennon getting the manager's job.
