It's not often you'll hear me criticise Neil Lennon but I haven't been impressed with his team selections lately. I thought he got it wrong last week against Juventus and I think he got it wrong again tonight.

If Stokesy starts tonight we go home with 3 points. I'm almost certain of it.

To be fair Marky, Lennon didn't make us miss a couple of sitters in the first half.

He also didn't pummel the St. J goal for 45 minutes without scoring a few.

the second half wasn't good but we created enough chances to win 4 games in the first half, that would suggest we got it right for 45 minutes at least.

That's precisely why I think he got it wrong though mate. The number of chances we created in the first half tonight, if Stokesy had been on the park he would have taken at least one of them. Maybe even two or three. That would have meant us winning the match.

There's a good enough reason been given as to why he never started.

There was a very good reason for Stokes not to start tonight, don't see why it's even up for debate.

I think the reason that Stokesy didn't start is precisely the reason our players love him.

But still, not trained due to the death of a good friend, just back from 5 months out and 2 games in 4 days... Stokesys possibly looking at limping off 20/30 minutes into the game. It's impossible to say.

I'm happy with his decision last night. The first 45 minutes were briliant, he reacted far too late to Lomas changing to 3 upfront though.

i agree with everything you say but why not let stokes decide if hes ready to play in the same way that he did with ambrose. or maybe hes learned not to let players decide and made the decision himself .

Because it wasn't a massive game. It would be stupid to risk it.

If it was a game we really needed Stokesy for he would have player. As it is it went wrong last night and we still extended our lead to 19 points in the league.

There has been times, especially last season when he was our main striker.

I think Lennon knows that there is a difference between being mentally and physically drained, as opposed to emotionally drained :50:

    Grand old team
His after match comments about that been the "Best Ever" 1st half performance since he came here were cringeworthy just the sort of BS strachan used to come out with.Remnds me the night Portugal Thrashed Scotland 5-0 and craig brown said we won 6 corners to which the reporter said we lost FIVE goals..It seems that drawing 1-1 with Real,Sparta, oops the "mighty" St Johnstone is acceptable these days...some on here coming out with such crap as "you cant win every game" 2 points out of 9 against St Johnstone is NOT acceptable. Lennon's sheer arrogance and stubborn team selections is deflected by last nights "great performance" and it was the referee last week, but yet again funny how he didnt come out and take the blame for playing Ambrose.

Do you feel that being 19 points clear in the league and in the last 16, with a cup competition still to play for is acceptable?

I totally agree with you on the comment about being "best ever" performance.

The rest of this post however is totally reminiscent of the usual tripe you spout when you reappear only when Celtic have dropped points.

You must be one of these people who love to moan and pretend they are upset, when in fact you are over-joyed at the fact you have something negative to bemoan about.

Top o' the league, and 19 points ahead........ya bass! :bbpd:

With Lennons ambition and motivation does anyone believe he gets complacent during games against diddy clubs? or do you believe its more of the players who do?
