This is like a forum poster called gunt coming on a forum and posting * that he knows * all about.

    Lennon knows celtic inside out
lennon knows the youth system inside out
lennon has played football at top level and captained a very succesfull celtic champions league/ uefa cup team.
lennon knows scottish football inside out all the teams and the way they play.
He knows stuff other managers wouldnt have a clue about
He also restored some pride at the end of last year

    Experience counts for * all.............

And as for Lenny's credentials ala targetting players and tactical astuteness and how he can't do it against Sir moanalot across at Mordor...............

Targetting players: Campbell (EPL Legend IMO CL experience Interational CB)

    Keane (nuff said)

    Beller's (again nuff said)

    Petrov (Dynamite winger)

S.Petrov (not sure of the truth in this but again a Celtic Legend )

Wilson (Lenny knows him from playing with him)

Tactical astuteness (8 wins out of 8 against european challenging sides)

Against * face fae Mordor (beat him in the only game they've played so 1-0 to Lenny)

Say what ye lke but please get behind Lenny ye loved him as a player he's the same man now he's manager......

thats gunt not *:50: Of course I will get over this and back him but its only just been announced so people have a right to be happy or * off. My own feeling in the last 2 appointments is the club are appointing on the basis of popularity and shifting season tickets. I think the decline in the latter has been made a bigger priotity than quality of candidate. Popularity clearly has a strong tendency to be linked to the Celtic man thing. Look at last years short list and look at the management team just appointed and tell me that the club are not dabbling in this.

There is only 1 single case where a rookie manager has been an out and out success and that is Barcelona/Pep. I don't think it's a co-incidence that that exception is Barcelona.

I think we could have done better but it's time now to get behind the manager and we can do the season post-mortem next May.

congrats lenny. dunno why we had to wait till today for your appointment? the reason i thought there was such a delay was they were finalising all lennons backroom staff etc or a big signin was goin to introduced too. not impressed at all with reid. just wonder how much backin lennon will get. the passion will be instilled in players and lennon has plans to bring in some more experienced players so hope please * things will work out. we all have to rally behind our troops now just hope the board will back our manager as much as our fans will. good luck lenny. you were a legend of a player now go on and become a legend of a manager

    hail hail :ynwacelti:

    That's a very naive view.
You think we're going to get Keane and Bellamy? I don't.
I mean finding good players for relatively low prices. Petrov probably won't come back. Don't want Sol Campbell.
And an embarrassing defeat against a 1st division side to ruin our only chance of silverware last season.
We rode our luck a bit in that game.

If you think experience counts for * all then you are not living in the real world. In almost every walk of life the good jobs go to the people with CVs full of relevant experience. You do not take punts on making the delivery boy the top man.

As for the list of players you mention, if the club gave any manager those players they would win the SPL for the next few years. Even Mogga would probably have got 3 in a row with them.

Wenger had 12 years managerial experience before he joined Arsenal.

Good luck, it's a risk as all managers are, but his passion, drive, winning mentality, love of the club, understanding of the club and self belief will hopefully re-unite what has been a very divided support and we can hit the ground running in the league.

I'm actually in a very relaxed mood. Passed an interview this morning that determines the next 15 years of my life. :celt_2:

I'm hardly slating him though. I wish him all the best and he did manage to get 8 wins on the trot, which is good. But I'm just concerned.

If knowing the club, having been a decent player, being an ex-player are serious criteria then our board are idiots. Add to that that the height of his experience is having coached some reserves in a season with no league to play in and being able to get the players to fight a bit better to scrappy winds than they did under Mowbray then what is the point. He was appointed because he is Lenny.

Actually he had managed two clubs before Porto, including Benfica. He also had 10 years of experience as an assistant manager behind him. He was no rookie when he got to be full time manager of Porto.
