I don't even have a problem with RITG,it's doesn't say anything bad about Protestants,it rips the Orange Order a new one and gets tore into John Knox and King Billy.....what's wrong with that?
I can see how it can be misinterpreted, but that's all that is is imo. That's my take on it anyway.

Rubbish. Why are they still interning Irish Republicans then?

I think singing up the IRA shouldn't be a problem. What I find hysterical is that the same people who say "the war is over" are the same ones who have a problem with the "IRA" being sung. If the war is over, whats the problem with singing up the IRA?

    Hypocrits, the lot of them.

I don't think there is any but one or two people might sing a wee add-on here or there.

Simple. The war is over, why bring up the feelings and sentiments from long ago now when they are no longer relevant? That's just continuing the divide even when the actual conflict is over.

I'm not the best with Irish History and Sectarianism and I might be wrong a few times when I post this.

Roamin in the Gloamin is the closest song to being sectarian BUT it is debatable. It is never sung anymore at games because we have a mixed fan base. I'm not saying it is never sung AT ALL but never at the games.

Celtic fans at the games don't sing sectarian songs, they claim that the I.R.A songs are sectarian but it shows no hatred towards Protestants or any other Religion? The media obviously love to try and take the slightest things we sing and stir it with a wooden spoon. When the huns are shouting "* the pope" because he is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. That is clearly sectarianism. Also singing No Pope of Rome (Which I still hear) is antagonising the Catholic Church.

I don't know if it is sectarian but they sing "The Famine is Over" which is not a thing to sing about because millions of people died because of the Famine. Yet they still continue to sing it and the media sweep it under the carpet.

Then we sing a song about Irish heroes and we get buried by the media? I can just imagine them just now sitting like a wain on Christmas Eve for us to sing about I.R.A., Irish heroes and Irish ballads. No matter how many times we tell them that it is not sectarian, they will completely ignore it and make us look bad to the whole of Britain. They tag the I.R.A as "Terrorists" because they oppose them which is ridiculous. And anyone who supports for there to be one Ireland will be tagged as "Supporters of Terrorists"

Also I have to hear the Orange marches go by, celebrating victory over the Catholics which I find offensive, but I did hear something like the Pope "congratulated" them or something? I'm not sure but the Pope was supposed to of praised King Billy after it I'm not sure.

As I said, I don't know alot about Irish History, I know a fair amount and there is a great chance that I will be wrong, and if I am I'd love you to correct me so I can learn from others on the forum and have more knowledge on it.

EDIT: The Media made a big deal about Boruc blessing himself which is in no way a crime? But when Kayal and Izaguirre pray then nothing gets said about them? You can obviously see that there is some opposition to Catholicism there.

Nah, don't buy that. If thats the case then why use the poppy? That does nothing but divide. Why have commemorations? Why have the Orange Order?

It's blatant hypocrisy and theres wishy washy people on our side who are only happy to bend over backwards and let the other side walk all over them.

And by the way, the war isn't over. Most people have just closed their eyes to the truth. But thats another story for another thread!

There are hundreds of Celtic songs we could sing .The republican songs are im out dated and should be confined to the past .i,d expect Celtic to be next on the uefa target list in some songs are not stopped

I disagree. Its not about the IRA, its about the fans connection to Ireland. In the end of the day, we have to remember that the club has deep roots in Ireland. Cast the mind back to the day when Liam Brady, playing for Juve, was given a stand ovation by the Jungle.

It's been a long time since I've heard it sung (apart from the Hearts game where Lenny got attacked, we were just going nuts that night)

give up nothing, as the songs are not sectarian, if they where we would have been locked up years ago, don't let these hillbilly's away with anything. learning all about sectarianism, is going to be a slow process for the other half of Scotland shame, and its about time the boot, was on the other foot, as it was not very long ago posted in shop windows, that catholics need not apply. they had no shame then, so being brought to book, and hopefully they see the error"s of there ways, ill await to see how long it takes them to grasp the nettle, before i would give up one song.
and by the time they have learn what is and what is not sectarian from the educational program, maybe then, they will realize we where not there enemy after all

I think the point he is making is that we are next to get targetted because it will be a cause celebre after the events of this year with regards Lenny!

thats true...i havent heard it in a long time.......but i still maintain it does our club no good to be singing oo aa up the ra.....for me thats the only one that can be rightly termed offensive. the other songs are songs you can liken to flower of scotland. tho i wish we could change they lyric about the ira in that one too.
