    carrying weight :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

you seen izzy with his tap aff he is a tank!

next thing you will be telling us is kris commons needs the juiceplus diet!

he plays his way, as said on a similar thread the other day he has no competition for his place, matthews yes he can play there but isnt reliable there for me, muldini is too slow that leaves him with young twardzik so no competition, he is a slow starter like VVD will come good, but could cost us big time on tuesday

Can't understand all the hatred for Emilio.

Hatred maybe too strong a word but he is an excellent player for us.

And that is why Izzyguire shouldn't play on Tuesday.
And TBH, Izzyguire looks top heavy to me too.

Izaguirre does look like he's carrying a bit of weight but I'm assuming he started pre-season late after the World Cup.

He's in good company though, it happens. Noticed criticism towards Luke Shaw, Santi Cazorla, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yaya Toure. You'll notice all of them were at the World Cup except for Ben Arfa.

man i still remember mulgrew in one of his first games back for us against a portugeeze mob braga and he was terrible at left back that night leggy and awkward

and mathews was playing left back against warsaw when the raped us

just got to give him more protection and get the defence wisened up to them over loading there on tuesday and make sure when under pressure that mcgreggor is back in the right back slot covering lustig has moved over denayer has moved over and vvd has moved over as that is what maribor took advantage of the other night a big * gaping hole and defenders not tracking the runners

hopefully though we get off to a flyer and get a few goals to take the pressure off the defence though

Mulgrew was okay in the sort of sweeper/defensive midfielder role on Wednesday, but when everyone's fit I wouldn't have him in my team and definitely not at left back, even with a dodgy Emilio (although I think criticism of him has been a bit over the top, he hasn't been nearly as bad as people make it seem).

Chaz can fill in at LB and CH for me, not keen on him in Europe, will get away with it most times in SPL, but not for me.

As for Izzy, class player. Probably our most productive player going forward, unfortunately we don't have any strikers who can compliment his crosses.

He should be left back on the bench.

Our current 433 style. When he bombs forward there's no one to fill in behind him, so it leaves him horribly exposed. In his first season when he won POTY Ledley would slot back in there when he went rampaging, so it was never as obvious that he was being caught out as someone else was there to pick up any balls over the top. Now it's glaringly obvious and every team is exploiting it. He needs to be either told to curtail his runs, or someone needs to be told to slot in there when he goes forward.

The qualities Izzyguire used to bring to the team are no longer there I am afraid.Positionally horrendous at times, and he looks to have lost a yard in pace. His best days appear to be behind him.

I would not risk him against Maribor, too big an ask.Mulgrew for me at left back, until we can get a new competent, natural left back

Stuarty A new poster and a newcomer to watch Celtic I presume. For seasons now Izzy has given us outstanding service as an attacking left back . He probably covers more ground up and down the left. flank of the Celtic team . He has a weakness in defence but Lennon's teams were able to play in away to cover for any weaknesses . I think it shouldn't beyond Deila's tactical nous to do the same. Mulgrew as a fullback would be a disaster as he is lacking the pace to get close to a winger and wouldn't get up quick enough in attack to provide the width and crossing that the Celtic set up depends on .

I still think Izzy is a fantastic LB but it is definitely a position we should be looking to strengthen. That and a striker with some kind of European experience should be the priorities.

    this spot on ^^^

and when he goes forward its left to charlie or vvd to go out there an cover for him this leaves us short in the dm and or centre back out in left back slot which means the rest of the defenders have to move accross and then we can caught with a switch ball

charlie isnt a good option to fill in for izzy when izzy goes forward either as he is to slow and leggy for a nippy skillfull winger in europe

    its definately a problem area

for the moment i would definately tell izzy to stay back a lot more and not bomb on

433 needs quick energetic players all over the midfield and front positions

its gonna take a quite a while for this formation to work i reckon

Never seen such a immobile looking football player in all my life. Painful watching him in midfield when someone closes him down.

Why he is Captain and starts is the only things about Deila that I don't get yet.

The guy does nothing bar stand still and play the ball backwards, he had his best season as a center-back and should be sitting on the bench in case we happen to need a sub centerback.
