    R.I.P to a fantastic athlete.

Personally, I never liked Ali much because of some of his views and his associations.

Whether good or bad however, the world has lost a very monumental figure.

He had his views which i notice the BBC and others in the media are ignoring but overall his views were a product of his society he grew up in. He was such a one off and everyone copies him in all sports. I personally don't think he was the greatest boxer of all time but he was definitely greatest sports entertainer of all time and an icon.

A true boxing legend, even if his personal views and treatment of Joe Frazier made me question his status outside of the ring.

Still, best wishes to his family and friends at a tough time.

    That's my views exactly pal.

After watching a documentary on Frazier-Ali, my estimations on the guy went incredibly down.

Nonetheless, the world has lost a sporting icon.

Yeah, in many ways his medical condition meant that he wasn't really questioned or brought to account for his actions back in the day.

As you say though, a boxing legend.

What did he do that was so bad? Other than being outspoken about the war, which looking back had to be a heroic act.

Ali was given very little chance against Foreman, his rope-a-dope tactic was a masterclass in the art of defence and ultimately attack, i believe this fight truly elevated the man to eternal greatness, there was a man who spoke a great game but he could also back it up, he was truly box office in a golden era for the Heavyweight scene.

His name transcends everything, a true icon. Champions forge themselves in his name these days not just in combat sport but sport in general.

    RIP The Greatest.

He treated Joe Frazier terribly - and apparently just for * and giggles.

He attacked his status as a black man and really hurt him psychologically. Made all the worse by the fact that Joe had been so supportive of him when his title was stripped after the Vietnam draft attempt.

    He could be cruel.

I tend to purposefully forget Ali's Nation of Islam days, and indeed most of his politics, choosing instead to just enjoy him as a boxer.
