I was never really interested in the whole Ali story & his quotes if I'm honest, didn't really take to it. I understand it though and the impact he had. Sad to hear this news. RIP

I'm of a vintage to remember a good amount of Ali's fights. He was a fantastic boxer but an absolutely mesmeric character.

    It's a sad day. 2016 is a *.

Sad day - not just for boxing, or sport... but for humanity. Sure, Ali had a (very) dark side that wasn't commonly reported, but his positives hugely outweighed his negatives and his presence on the planet genuinely brought good.

Oh aye, and he could box a bit! Very few sights as beautiful in sports as watching Ali let his hands go.

Kenny Norton, Joe Frazier, and now Ali. Just Big George left from the 'Golden Era'.

Saw this quote from the Basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar which I think sums it up best:

"Today we bow our heads at the loss of a man who did so much for America. Tomorrow we will raise our heads again remembering that his bravery, his outspokenness, and his sacrifice for the sake of his community and country lives on in the best part of each of us.

At a time when blacks who spoke up about injustice were labelled uppity and often arrested under one pretext or another, Muhammad willingly sacrificed the best years of his career to stand tall and fight for what he believed was right. In doing so, he made all Americans, black and white, stand taller. I may be 7ft 2in but I never felt taller than when standing in his shadow."
