The reserve league thing might be a step closer to getting a foot in the door but I don't want the huns to progress.. I'd much rather see Celtic prosper on their own while the huns get asset stripped to the point where their reserve team becomes their first team..
Despite having been a player , does David Moyes have leanings towards us ? I've seen a couple of his interviews about wanting to manage in Scotland in the future but can never quite warm to him as a person.. -
their * scared of us thats why , coule years down the line with same same income as the EPL clubs with the stature of celtic worldwide as a club , would make us be up there with the top 4 imo after a few season to find our feet , weve beaten the best england has to offer before and i dont see why we couldn't do it again :)
-
Still no chance for us! All talk blah! blah! Blah!
-
Leeds!
Just because we beat English teams years ago- don't think it would be easy in England!
Leeds being a prime example! -
If we can hold our ground ( and even beat ) top 4 teams in the EPL, then why did we get absolutly pumped against Arsenal? We had 1-2 shots on goal over both fixtures.
A game here and a game there doesn't count. We'd probably struggle against mid-table teams if im being honest. -
-
We would only struggle initially. Once we got money revenew and that. We easily be a top 4 team. Our owners would accually spend because it would make financial sense unlike it does now.
-
Saying that, however, Celtic would become one of the biggest clubs and best teams in European football eventually, if they were to join the EPL. The income that league can give you is frightening, even for teams like Wigan. We would have 60,000 every week and probably more eventually as the club would increase the capacity. We would have investors left, right and centre, particularly from Ireland, I'm certain it was the ex-Livingston owner who stated he knew of many wealthy Irish businessmen who would invest big-time in Celtic if they were to join the EPL. In my opinion we would become as big, if not bigger, than Man Utd. I honestly think the English teams are wary of this and, rightly from their point of view, will never back the Old Firm in the EPL. Why would a turkey vote for Christmas after all? -

We are not on a level playing field with any of the teams in england.
You can only compare celitc with the rest of the EPL teams once we get the money and players wanting to play for us (and managers wanting to manage us) that the EPL teams already have. -

If we were in EPL we would increase our revenue dramitically hence being able to buy better quality players. -
i think we should build up to it and earn it, come in at championship level, which would help in getting players, money and sponsors, then once were in epl, we would have a solid base already

The chance's of being put straight into the EPL are slim to none. It would cause an uproar with alot of teams who try every year to stay in it or get promoted. I think we'd need to start at the very bottom then work our way up which would be extremely hard as we wouldnt have many good players or alot of money.
-
Look at the financial mess the majority of the EPL teams are in. Even the big boys of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all feeling the pinch. To be honest I've given this a lot of thought over the past few months and if going down to the EPL entails us ending up £200million in debt after 4 or 5 seasons then you can shove it.
I'd rather we just stayed in Scotland, battled our corner and waited for the EPL money bubble to burst. It WILL burst and when it does we should be in quite a good position to pick up some quality players if we keep our own finances in good nick.Last edited by a moderator: May 14, 2010 -
More talk sick of hearing this arguement.. would love us to get into the EPL but wont happen

I've gone cold on the EPL idea, I think we need to put all our efforts into trying to improve Scottish Football. That's a herculean task but I'm just not interested in seeing Celtic going into oceans of debt the way the EPL clubs have. -

I dont see it ever happening tbh id rather we worked on improving the spl. -
Then you have the travelling issue. What about when we have to go down to Plymouth and teams around them. Our team would easily be nakered after a month or 2 and other top quality players won't want to sign because they have to drive for about 5-6 hours every 2 weeks
