IMO he is the man for the job, plays good football, ex celtic player, knows were the bargains can be found and he started the huddle :celt_2:

Its hardley breaking news either hugh keevins mentioned it at 8:30 this morning, I was going to post it but thought it would just get closed because there was no source.

He isn't a great manager and certainly not as good as Strachan. I really don't want him to get the job, but if Celtic lose all sanity and appoint him he'll have my backing.

I agree with this. I would rather have Strachan. Mowbray had one of the best hibs team in recent memory and done nothing. Riordan, O'Connor, Whittaker, Thomson, Brown, Caldwell, Fletcher, Killen, Sproule, Murphy. All decent players yet were a mid table team. hearts scored 12 goals in 3 games against his team.

We could get better than Mowbray.

He won Hibs the CIS cup. John Collins was only in charge for the final. Mowbray got them through every other round plus he plays good attractive football

I'm no fan of Peace but to blame him completely for something that hasn't quite happened yet will be unfair in my view, we don't know what has gone on, if anything between the chairman and manager that doesn't happen between many other managers and their chairman.

Does nobody think that maybe, just maybe, Mowbray is the one that wants out just to further his own career.

If, for whatever reason, we couldn't get an A-class manager then I'd be happy with Mowbray.
He was top of my list of "second-tier" managers - I love the style of football his teams play and if nothing else, we could do with some entertainment at Celtic Park.

Why would he want to test the waters?? It makes no sense. We could keep Mowbray by saying No, or we can give him away for £750k and lose an absolutely fantastic Manager. I'm not denying Mowbray has an interest in the Celtic job, but he's not the kind of person who will kick off a fuss if he's told to stay. He's not like Robbo or Davies, he's professional and would get on with his job.

I guarentee we'll look back on this season as the defining change in our history. Mowbray will become a huge success elsewhere whilst we struggle to find a Manager who can take us up and end up in Championship obscurity.

    I feel physically sick.

"Mart, Mowbray may want the Celtic job but it is my belief that if he were to be denied the opportunity to talk with them then he would still not be opposed to the idea of remaining West Bromwich Albion manager. In general terms I still believe Mowbray is happy managing our club. We know Celtic can’t afford big compensation so why lower the asking price and risk losing our best manager in decades for peanuts? It just doesn’t make sense."

Would not be my pick for the job, but with some of the other names going about it could be alot worse.

If he gets the job he will have my backing from the start and be judged with results on the park.

I am truly struggling as to why they want him, unless they are likening themselves to being no better than a championship level football club. They like to think of themselves as a match for Man Utd and Chelsea, yet we couldn't beat them with Mowbray's tactics so how would he fare for them when they are trying for the European qualifiers and they at some point will meet teams of the same calibre as Man Utd. Celtic seem to be looking at this from an emotive point of view because he played for them for 4 years during times of great personal hardship and because he created the huddle for them!! Also because the Hibs side he was managing beat Celtic. I think they will be in for shock personally if he gets the job. Too much too soon.

Ok then lads, a question for you all:

If Mowbray was given the nod by Celtic that the job was his, but Peace declined the offer from Celtic as he wanted to keep Mowbray, and stated that Mowbray would have to resign in order to go there, do you think Mowbray would stay with us, or resign and pursue the job at Tic?

    Now answer honestly.

Honestly, hand on heart I think he would stay. From what I have read and from what I have personally heard from the man’s lips I get the feeling he is reasonably happy here. I use ‘reasonably’ because of the reported breakdown with Peace 2 weeks ago.

I love strawberry ice cream, but if I my mum said that I couldn’t have any and instead had to have chocolate I’d still be fairly happy, I love strawberry but chocolate will do…for now….

The most dignified of all the managers, thus far. Hasn't responded to speculation and has been respectful of the club who pay his wages. Thoroughly decent chap, what, what.:icon_mrgreen:

"Members on "talkceltic.net" seems to think its very funny us all moaning about losing our manager to them, hope just for their sake alone now he stays with us. If they finish second next season they will be calling for his head and he reputation will be badly tarnished."

HAHAHA * UR RIGHT WE DO. i bet theyre reading this right now haha.
