Two league cups and two second place finishes in England and reaching quarter finals of European cup and uefa cup isn't that bad for a non entity who are viewed to have chronically underachieved since winning the European cup and super cup

It was also good enough for O'Neil and for Petrov to leave champions league football forl

They’ve been spending a lot consistently and have a very good manager in place now. They could be a good move for a team with potential

They left for more money in England …. They didn’t leave champions league football for Aston Villa that’s clear as day

Southampton have lodged a bid for Moussa Dembele believed to be in the region of £3million.

The former Celtic striker is out of contract at Lyon in the summer and the Ligue 1 giants are willing now to cash in on the Frenchman who has struggled this season for regular game time. The 26-year-old has only featured 14 times and scored twice and an exit has looked on the cards for some time.

Saints are toiling at the bottom of the Premier League table and really need firepower and strong options at the top of the pitch. Manager Nathan Jones has his eye on new recruits with the next 48 hours key to their survival hopes come the end of the season.

Football Scotland understands an official offer was tabled last night and now Lyon have accepted the bid and it is now down to Dembele and his representatives to thrash out a late move with the window closing tomorrow night.

A source close to the deal has also toldFootball Scotland that Celtic would only be due a fraction of a fee from the sale of the player had there been a profit from Lyon's sale which, as he joined for just shy of £20m back in 2018, there will not be at this time

His wages will be massive and well out of our budget.

He'll be getting at least double what our top earners are getting in wages though

Not his wages. He was on 50k a week at Lyon and apparently that wasnt enough for him

Probably getting a hefty signing on fee too.

I reckon he’ll do well in the EPL. Big, strong strikers seem to be in fashion down there now.

I'm sorry but that is a really * move for him.

Be lucky to score 5 goals for a team like Southampton.

Not that they've shown interest but he'd be better off risking it and moving to Brentford.

Thought Brentford would go in for him because Toney will likely be suspended

Villa and Southampton are utter crap moves. He'll make good dosh but will win nothing.

    Exactly my thinking.

Toney will be suspended and Dembele offers great cover and a solid second option to help them solidfy their position in the EPL with guys like Toney and Dembele to pick from as their strikers.

Assuming of course Toney after what will surely be a lengthy back and is able to get back to his best

"We spent 22 million Euros on him and it's been a big regret. More and more players are doing this now with regards to their contract and of course, that is their right
