We did say we’d sell him after two years, if we’ve had an agreement in place with him I can see why he’s * off.

However, the club shouldn’t be selling him at this stage. Either start of the window with a replacement or not at all. We’ve conducted ourselves very strangely this window though.

Keep him if he will play him. No point having him here if hes going to be left out.

    He will be played, 100%.

The annoying this is the game he is going to miss is against the pretenders though and he’s a massive player in those clashes.

Diddums to that, he's contractually ours for the duration of his contract - Simple as. Don't want to risk staying a day over this alleged 2 years? Sign a 2 year deal, negotiate a release clause!

If he cant link together the fact that this has purely come on too late, then he's a dafty. Dembele would of been sold for probably whatever Lyon are offering 30 days ago, it's too late now and the buying club will have to compensate us for that.

If he goes, it'll be for x million more than Lyons initial offer, we hold the cards and will dictate this transfer.

Diddums to him but also to us. Good players will look at situations like this and come to the conclusion we aren’t to be trusted with what we tell players. He will be able to understand, obviously, but it depends on how we’ve handled it.

The way we’ve handled the rest of the window, I would suggest it’s probably not competently.

Just need to point them in the direction of Virgil.

What we have done from an outgoing perspective has been totally rational, the club are 100% correct in their handling of this transfer, this late in proceedings. If you want our player this late on, you pay through yer teeth.

Aye at this point in time, how have we handled it up until this point though? He should in no way be sold but it’s how we’ve got to this point that concerns me.

The way I see this is Brendan froze out Gamboa for going back on his word to him and Dembele will be aware of Brendan doing the exact same thing to him. We need to learn our lessons on how we deal with this * in the future, we are not infalliable by any means.

I do agree with you but in my defence, the person in question is always at it himself and it sometimes gets to even the best of us.

Then you also have the Boyata situation. One stain creates doubt two stains and your taking a big chance. These will be the 2 most recent cases and will tarnish our reputation as a good place for players with potential to build their career. There is no upside to the * up the board have made

Unless Lyon are willing to pay what we feel our player is worth then he goes nowhere.

No bid had been made until yesterday, nothing we could of done differently.

Brendan has a job to do which would be harder without being able to get a replacement in, he has to be selfish.

    * me... I seriously cannot believe the board are getting pelters for rejecting transfers for our best players! :56:

Pre-Boyata bid we still hadn't signed a CB and as we all know now, he was massively needed for AEK. When I say best players, he is far and away in our top two CB's - We needed him, we rejected the offer. The board wouldn't of known he would of been totally unprofessional and downed tools. That's why that "* up" happened.

Now Lyon have come at us in the final hours of the window expecting us to bend over and let them have their own way.. Emmm... Naw.

    * the reputation, honest to *, no point even having these players come in if we are going to punt them hours before UCL quals and punt them for under our value on deadline day.

    * sake man, I'm out. :56::56:

18 million is nothing, I’m sick of clubs taking the * with these offers. We need to stay strong and demand fees for our top players, especially when you want to buy a day before the window close. 25 million Is the minimum in this market for a player with his potential

You don’t think there’s anything we could have done differently to avoid breaking promises to a player? How about no make them in the first place?

What promise tho mate ? We don’t know what was promised.. if the offer doesn’t suit in terms of fee or timing, why accept it?

In Jan, he will have more options and we will have more time..

At this stage, a dont gee a single * about pinky promises. We sell when we want, not when a contracted player decides. And certainly not on the final day at a price deemed unacceptable!

This is the stance we should take in most cases, I only remember one player in the past where we openly said we would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave and that was Henrik, he gave us years of service. And Dembele has nowhere near that stature at the club.

Then what you want is for us to be a snakey bastarding club. What I want is for us to learn our * lessons and conduct ourselves with far less arrogance than we have shown throughout this full window.

We get a reputation for * people over its game over.

Brendan has said publically after two years mate. I know what you’re saying and I agree, I think there’s certain ways to conduct ourselves and this falls short of that.

2 players unhappy. The board strangely silent. We don't know what happened but I feel that some promises were made and not kept. This might be our prerogative but it could impact future potential targets.
