Striker Moussa Dembele undergoes medical ahead of move to Celtic

    http://stv.tv/sport/football/135892...le-completes-medical-ahead-of-move-to-celtic/

Moussa Dembele is set to become Brendan Rodgers' first signing as Celtic boss after undergoing a medical ahead of a move from Fulham.
The 19-year-old striker's contract at Craven Cottage is up with the Scottish champions required to pay around £500,000 in training compensation to secure his services.
Paris Saint-Germain, where Dembele started his career, will receive approximately half of that total.
French teenager Dembele scored 17 goals in 46 games for the English Championship side last term as they battled to avoid relegation.
Celtic flew out to their pre-season training camp in Slovenia on Monday with new boss Rodgers aiming to revamp his attacking options.
Carlton Cole, Colin Kazim-Richards, Anthony Stokes and Stefan Scepovic have all left Glasgow this summer.
Able to play as a central striker or wide in a 4-3-3, Dembele played with on-loan Celtic winger Patrick Roberts at Fulham.

Done deal mate...Probably 5PM or so it will be confirmed. He will meet up with the players on tour. Got to say this is an unreal signing. This kid is worth £10M if he had a 5 year contract ahead of him. To get him for half a million just shows us "Intent" from Celtic started with Rodgers and now with the 1st signing, we are seeing a player we REALLY KNOW is a player.

Well done Celtic. Also this kid is VERY FAST and very strong, and still has a ton of stuff to learn. Rodgers I think wants a very big mean squad, full of bulky fit players. But might want to play Roberts or some small guy when we are on the counter attack. Things are looking superb so far. Keep it coming Celtic

this is just awesome, specially beating tottenham and arsenal amonst few teams who was trying to get him, said he wanted first team football, and champions league, well done san, for going with what wanted and not just in it for the money, like some players, real talent, and hailed next thiery henry by french media, raving about him, with under 21's. pace, skill and eye for a goal, now we talking and more players out the door, just awesome so happy right now, with the direction we are going now

Big signing of intent. Well known down here in London and all the big fan's club's have talked him up, and wanted to sign him..

Quite pleasantly surprised that he's coming here. He could've picked a host of big club's..

    Quality..

Agreed mate. But lets not forget the 'Brendan Rodgers Effect' Players who come and talk to us now are talking to one of the best managers in Europe. Brendan didn't come to Celtic for the money, so he can say to players "Want money? Don't waste my time, goodbye" or "You want to be a hero to Millions, play in-front of full stadiums, one being 60,000 capacity, European Football, and a change to BECOME SOMEONE, and not just something. You will be a Millionair, and you can do that as well at Celtic"

    Something like that... :56:
But I do think players will respect Rodgers and sign for him, maybe more than they would have with our last manager(s)?

Besides his great finishing ability, Dembele also has terrific leaping ability and physical traits. He stands at exactly 6 feet tall, which is fairly average for a striker. But what separates him from most strikers physically is his vertical leap and his pace. Dembele’s leaping ability was shown off in a goal he scored against Queens Park Rangers. A teammate crossed the ball up to Dembele, and before the ball even started going downward, Dembele jumped to reach the cross and found the back of the net.

His aforementioned pace has been on display throughout the season for Fulham so far. Fulham’s website described Dembele as having “pace to burn”, and they couldn’t be more spot on. One example of his great pace was a goal he scored against Reading, where his teammate delivered a low ball into the box, and Dembele ran at full speed to get the ball and put it into the back of the net. He scored a similar goal in a game against MK Dons, when the ball popped up into the air, his teammate brought it down and passed it right in front of the net toward Dembele, who had been running at full speed to get there, and he ended up with an easy tap in goal as a result. He used his pace to get away from the defender and that gave him the easy finish inside of the box. One of the reasons why he’s been such a great finisher this season, is because his excellent pace and leaping ability give him clear sights of the goal. When he gets the ball, he often can get a good look at the goal because of the space he creates for himself. His athletic ability gives him a lot of potential and even more room to grow.

    Hmmm, another project really.

I'd sooner we went for a striker with much more experience.

Don't want to get my hopes up in case there's a problem but what a signing this would be.
