Most Overrated Player

Ramires is a black Scott Brown. Great engine but limited ability NEVER Chelsea class.

Lavezzi to me is an over hyped Nacho Novo, fast as * but he couldnt cross or shoot to save his life, lack technical ability big time.

Torres is the most over rated player of the last 15 years but I wouldnt say anymmore as no-one rates him.

Ive never seen such an average to poor footballer labelled as a world class striker.

 

l would take any of these overated duds in a minute.

 

The EPL is full of them when we say players are overrated we aren't saying they aren't good players just that they are hyped way more than they should be. Gareth Barry is definitely one of them as is Glen Johnson, James Milner. For me though the most overrated is Wayne Rooney he has fantastic talent definitely but up there with Messi and Ronaldo..no chance, the English media * this man up rediculously.

I'll second that one. Even their manager is over rated...

 

Yohan Gourcuff too. Maybe has the talent, but doesn't have the mentality to make it at a big club. Gael Clichy too (a French pattern is developing). Not a fan of Podolski and Arshavin needs a boot up the *.

 

Scott Brown couldn't garner as many caps for Brazil though. I think he'll prove you wrong in time. As for the Lavezzi comparison, that is just incredible. He has enough technical skill. He is the most creative player in that Napoli side, but he does lack composure in front of goal, even on crosses. He's amazing at running full pelt with the ball though, is tough and intelligent. He's been indispensable to Napoli's upturn in fortunes.

This is just an unbelievable statement. He looks ordinary now, but he was world class up until, as Hammer stated, 18 months ago. Absolutely world class.

 

Torres wasnt, I used to say it at the time he was scoring goals too. Torres at no point has ever been any better than Darrren Bent. His link-up play is shocking, his touch is often poor, hes anonymous outside the box, he has no football brain etc he's a good player but hes no better than that. He breaks down attacks with poor movement and losing the ball all the time too, useless for keeping possession.

I dont rate Ramires or Lavezzi, both are poor players for me. Ramires is useless most of the time, stumbling over the ball, poor passing, running into players.

Lavezzi is all running and speed and no composure or skill. Crossing and shooting is horrific imo

 

Some mad suggestions here.

One I do agree with is Ribery. For a player hyped beyond belief in his younger years, I've seldom seen him have a good game.

 

Kaka or Torres for me.

Not for the first time, I'm going to have to disagree with every single thing you've said. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion - you're wrong.

Likening Torres to Bent?? I can see where you're coming from, but when Torres was on form, he was unstoppable. His first touch was immense. Pace aplenty, as well as power. The performance where he made a mug of Vidic? In fact, you'd do well to remember his great seasons in the past (2007/2008, 2008/2009, half of 2009/2010) . In Spain, he was compared to Raul. Probably the least likely player you're ever going to compare to Darren Bent. The only Atletico player to be deemed worthy of gracing the front cover of Marca, because he was that good. Injury has definitely played its part in his recent downfall. Comparing him to Darren Bent? Please. ...And I'm a Liverpool fan!

I understand your distaste for Ramires, as it stands, but I find it amazing that you're saying Lavezzi, who is part of one of the best attacking tridents in Europe, is poor.

 

Can't say I agree with one suggestion made yet. Just a general EPL hate thread, by the looks.

Personally, mine would be Paul McShane. What any manager sees in him escapes me.

Everybody know McShane is *, but the reason managers pick him is because he must be good at the blowies...
