Our accounts will not be bad this season. Our most recent HALF-yearly accounts showed £7m of debt. The previous half-yearly accounts were £9m. By the end of that season (2010-11) - our worst in possibly the last decade - we had debts of £500k. We made a £6m profit in the transfer market that season so removing that our debts from the 2011-12 season will be at worst £4m or £5m.

As others have said we don't get the majority of Champions League money till the end of the season. Which means we should have a very healthy transfer budget next season providing we qualify for the group stages again.

I think the board will release funds for Lennon to spend at the start of next season. After all the leagues already won and we have qualified for the champions league this season.

Chose the last option.Although our dealings where ok I thought we could have went for a household name on loan.I'd imagine it would attract an extra 5k more supporters and would have worked wonders merchandising wise.

I'm not saying go one minute we should have went for Del Piero at 70k a week or anything although as we have seen before in our history if we attract one big name it makes headlines and entices better players to come to the club in the future.

Depends , we'll have to see how good the new players are first.

I think we have to wait and see how the new players fare before we can answer this question

I am proud that we live within our means and don't throw cash around for the sake of it (even if we had it).

My reaction on seeing this headline:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19471132 for example was "* off", because it's sickening seeing obscene money like that.

I think it's much more fun to have a limited budget that's spent well. I'd personally be bored stupid if a billionaire gave us unlimited money to buy who we want.

And the downside is that most of them turn out to be a disappointment. We should have a thread asking how many of the big signings in our history have realy worked out and i know the answer already very few.As a club over the last 40-50 years i have been a supporter we are generally more succesfull when we bring our own through and add players from the lower end of the transfer market.Martin O'Neils initial big signings did well but thereafter they were poor.It just does'nt seem to be the celtic way i'm happy with the way things are going at the moment.

I'm delighted we only needed a few players at the most. Two strikers from arguably the best league in the world. And a defender who may turn out to be a star. Remember wanyama was cheap.

I may have mentioned this point before in another thread re the accounts. The accounts we are about to see may not be great but is that a surprise after a total team rebiuld? The accounts are also retrospective and everyone(sevco fans as well)knows that the financial situation is going to be entirely different thanks to qualifying for the champions league, selling Ki,getting rid of a lot of squad players and extra money from qualifying and playing Real Madrid.

It depends on how good the new players are to be perfectly honest.

I thought we needed more cover at full back. Other than that, I think we brought in players for the correct positions for a change.

I chose "no" as I dont think I can really give any opinion regarding the quality of who we have brought in. But I feel disappointed that after increasing season ticket prices, selling Ki, chopping our squad, and qualifying for the champions league, we have spent around £1.5m on a new player, and £2m to keep Forster. Crowds will continue to dwindle because it is not sensible to increase ticket prices and cut spending at the same time. This in mind I was hoping for a bit more spending.

Thank * we got through to the champions league this season or I wouldnt want to imagine what would have happened to our squad to deal with the financial side of things!

    Onwards and upwards!

3 x 60000 sell out champions league games will more than wash away any lost revenue with our dip in home attendances!

Merchandising and catering sales for these matches will also be a big boost to our financies.

Roll on our next financial report next year, will make for good reading!

    Hail Hail

    See to the "no's"

Would you have been happy if we paid £8m for Miku, which was his asking price?

As I said, I have never heard of these guys nor seen them play. So only time will tell if they are any good. So I cannot say if they would be worth £8m or not. What I would say is that an asking price means nothing if noone is willing to pay it, so it is difficult to say he is "worth" £8m - it is an invented number. But either way, I would have liked to have seen us spend more (though probably not all on the one player)

What I'm saying is, if we did shell that out (and he was bid for around £5m or so as well) would you be happy?

That's just to the no's. The logic doesn't make sense to me.

To all the people who wish we had spent more, let's just see where we lie financially when the accounts come out, as I have said (like many others) for a * of a long time now.

They are already later in being announced than some expected.

I think that when they are declared, our expenditure this Summer may well make a lot of sense, if truth be told. It's not a simple case of "ooh, look how much money we have made via CL and Ki" followed by sizeable outlay. There are financial controllers at CP who thankfully know what the * the sums are, and work accordingly.

I would be happy we were spending money.

Regarding whether to take a guy on loan or spend £5m to sign him outright is of course up to the management. But I dont see it as a lack of logic. If we spent 5 million on him and he plays for 3 years then we sell him for 10 million it would be brilliant. If he is brilliant on loan then we just have to give him back at the end of the season. And if he is rotten then it will feel like a bullet dodged as we didnt spend a penny. It really is tough to have an opinion without knowing the player.

But what I would say is that spending if done properly is an investment. It isnt just wasting money. I would rather we invested in talent in general.

I don't care how much we spend! Izzaguire, Kayal, Matthews, Ledley, etc... have been out best signings and haven't cost much at all! As long as the players are good enough I'll be happy!

I'd like to hope because they were deadline signings we have thoroughly scouted them! Haven't seen any of them play so hope they fit in well!

RE scouting, Jordan, I know the square root of * all about Miku. However, Lennon quotes openly intonated we wanted him, but thought he would head to the bright lights of the EPL. That means he was on the radar well in advance, and does bode extremely well, in truth.

RE Ambrose, he was linked a long time before deadline day, so again that base seems to be covered.

They'll struggle more when attendances start to drop.
