You don't seem able to grasp that 12 goals in one La Liga season is not a low scoring rate. It's actually miraculously high for a player that we were able to sign, and a record unparalleled by other signings from top leagues in recent years.

Sadly for you, you don't seem able to conduct a civil discussion on the internet.

Anyway, as I have said before the problem isn't Miku's "miraculous" (as you put it) La Liga season - it's his entire career. Let me ask you this - and please don't throw in any insults if you choose to answer - do you think the one goal in ten games that Miku has managed with us is really what we want in a striker?

Forget La Liga, or his Salamanca form and all that. Miku here and now. Has he delivered for Celtic?

Just to throw in my opinion. (I know you're all waiting with baited breath)

I think Miku is a very good player, but we tend not to give players enough settling in time here, especially strikers. Kelvin Wilson has just about managed to bring people round, most people would have had Mulgrew out the door after ten games and people are even coming round to Samaras although he had to move out to the wing and become a European Messiah to get there.

Miku is unlucky to be here while we aren't playing very well and the team is being shuffled around a lot. Lassad has been lucky to get involved in a few games that we were on form in and he has been able to show us what he is capable of. I don't really think Miku has had a decent team performance to be given a chance.

As such I'm not gonna get on the guys back and say that he is a terrible player or not good enough for Celtic, he just may not fit for us right now. Which I think is a shame.

This is a fair assessment. The only thing I would add is that there's clearly something else that has affected Miku - maybe homesickness.

We are very quick to judge but at the same time it does become clear after ten games or so whether a player's heart is in it or not.

I have to admit, he's been a little bit of a dissapointment. I think we should give him two more matches to at least prove that he's a good as some people say he is. If he dosen't feature in our next home game then it's more than likely that he'll leave in January.

There has been moments were he's shown he possesses some good technical skills, but he seems to have zero confidence. Although if he was really serious and determined to make a go of it here, he should be giving it his all every single time he comes on, late sub or not. Whereas in reality he dosen't seem like he is, instead he seems either nervous or completely uninterested in what's happening.

In all honesty I think it would be best for both parties if he returned to Getafe. He's not really doing anyting here other than the odd sub apperance and we would probably be better spending money looking for a new striker.

Easier to score in La Liga than Premier League.

If any of you have seen his games in Spanish football, you should know that he's quite clearly a brilliant player. I simply think he doesn't suit Scottish football

Good post mate :50: There is always a chance someone will shine in a different league though, we should remember that it's not always cut and dry with statistics :50:

I always take a look at the individual seasons and see how often they get a decent return (in my own opinion, 1 in 2 is the minimum for me to think someone is a good goalscorer). It's part of the reason I hate the English commentators' hard-on for Defoe. His ratio's pish for a supposed - and I quote from several Sky Sports commentators here - "goal machine" :smiley-laughing002:

Completely agree. However looking at Miku's statistical history simply confirmed what I'd suspected in the last three or four matches but didn't really want to admit: he isn't going score enough.

I was right behind Miku and still believe he should be given more chances to shine but I've given up expecting anything amazing from him. His heart just doesn't seem in it.

I prefer to give players the benefit of the doubt and a good run of matches before I pass judgement and I dearly hope Miku proves me wrong in his last few games with us but I suspect he will be distinctly underwhelming.

Yep. Statistics have to be taken alongside other factors.

Just with this becoming a valid point in the debate about where it is easier to score, I thought I would present some stats, quite * but I did it anyway. In England this year, there have been 412 goals scored in 300 games. In Spain, 404 goals in 280 games. Not a massive difference between them to be fair.

It doesnt matter what his record in La Liga is, if he cant do it in the SPL then theres no point him being here.

To be fair, 12 goals in a season in La Liga for Getafe is good going. He obviously hasn't contributed much to Celtic's success this season, but there's thousands of reasons (varying in expected impact on performance, but something that will be overlooked by everyone can have a massive impact) why a player might not do well at a club. Not being good enough is only one of them, though the reason it's usually the first conclusion people reach is because it's the most likely.

I think he looks like a good player, but I'm not sure he fits in with the current squad. I'm glad Lassad has been the more impressive of the two, as he is actually our player. I think Miku will fit in well at a club in the middle-bottom of La Liga if that's where he ends up.

If Miku had come in as an unknown, from a lower team with a lower standard of football would we all be giving him such a hard time?

To be honest because of all the hype surrounding him when he came, I have been left a little bit dissapointed. But I could see this happening. Every time he has started or come on as a sub the WHOLE team has been playing absolutely * and the service wasn't there, not saying he's played tremendously well (because he hasn't) but I just feel he hasn't had that much of a chance. Its unfortunate. I really thought he was going to kick off when he scored, sadly that isn't the case. With the competition surrounding the strikers position at the moment I think he will be off in January, shame really. I'd still like to see MORE of him.
