The Celtic Song ... There can be only one !
He was excellent yesterday. In fact he's been excellent all season and looks to have the self belief and confidence in his own ability now, that he didn't have under the rat.

Credit to Lenny for sticking with the lad and giving him his platform.

If Mikey can hit the gym and become stronger he will be a top class player.

MIKEY JOHNSTON could face a spell on the sidelines after withdrawing from the Scotland Under-21 squad.

The Celtic winger pulled out of the clashes against San Marino and Croatia after being crocked in Sunday’s Old Firm clash.

Boss Scot Gemmill wouldn’t reveal the extent of the injury sustained by Johnston, 20.

Gemmill said: “Mikey has had to return to his club so he’s out of both games. It’s down to the club to reveal any details of his injury.

“It’s about chances and hopefully you’ll see another exciting young player.

“Of course we would like Mikey available but it’s an opportunity for someone else.

“Over the period we hope to give as many opportunities to as many players as possible.”

He's susceptible to injury at this stage of his career and due to the way he plays the game.

Anyone got a good photo of him cupping his ears at the huns? :giggle1:

I’m aware that Notorious put one up earlier in the thread but just wondered if there is any others.

Essential we brought in a bit of quality in Elyonoussi to help and learn from him.

If he was injured in the game on Sunday, why did we send him to the Scotland camp?
We really need to toughen up with our players wellbeing.

I don't think he ever joined up with them, he pulled out of the squad before they got together from what I read the other day.

Because they need to assess him or else the SFA can get him suspended for the next game

Think he can/will break tierneys transfer record hopefully well down the line.. reminds me of Ronaldo in his early days at united. If he can add a bit of bit of bulk he could really go very far..

Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has played down fears he faced a long-term layoff.

However, he will miss his side's clash with Hamilton this weekend as Premiership action returns following international fortnight.

The youngster was forced to pull out of the Scotland U21 squad after picking up a knock during the 2-0 win over Rangers but Johnston is adamant it won't keep him out for long.

The 20-year-old has had to deal with muscle injuries in his early Hoops career with a thigh problem previously keeping him out for a period when he first broke through under Brendan Rodgers

He also suffered a knee injury earlier this season but Johnston insists it's just a small problem and should be back for the opening Europa League group stage clash against Rennes a week on Thursday.

The Celtic star said: "I've just got a groin strain so I'll miss the weekend's game (at Hamilton) but I'll hopefully be back after that."

The 20-year-old had shown up for international duty but after quick checks was sent back to Celtic to undergo treatment

Scotland U21s won their two games against San Marino and Croatia and are sitting in good shape in their qualifying group.

Before the two ties, Scotland U21 coach Scott Gemmill said: "Of course we would like Mikey available but it’s an opportunity for someone else.

"Over the period we hope to give as many opportunities to as many players as possible

Nobody is quite sure who’ll be the ones who’ll play for the first squad so it’s right everyone gets that’s chance. It all fits in but of course we would like him to have been available. Mikey has had to return to the club so he’s out of both games.

"He has obviously played in an Old Firm game last week so of course it’s just about chances and hopefully you’ll see another exciting young player coming into the side."

He is actually eligible to play for Ireland. But that boat seems to have long since passed.
